many are wondering which club got the better deal out of the champion for inglis swap
i think storm are a good chance for top 4 this year and champion has always been a great player
inglis is a star but lazy week to week, i wouldnt be surprised to see champion playing origin in a couple of years

| Couple of points.
Where in the article does it say:
Quote dally messenger="dally messenger"many are wondering which club got the better deal out of the champion for inglis swap'"
SERIOUSLY? Where?
If by many you mean YOU.....then I can answer YOUR question.
In the short term, the Bunnies got the better deal. They got more media attention in the off season than in previous years, have signed a class player who would be first name on the team sheet at all NRL/SL clubs and they will sell more Season Tickets/Merchandise as a result.
In the Long term, if Champion develops further under the storms coaching regime, then I would say the bunnies still got the better deal. Their Toyota cup team were the second best last year and they have build a decent conveyer belt of talent for the future.....there are plenty more "champions" waiting for a chance at South Sydney...there is only ONE GREG INGLIS!

| I think Champion will improve massively at the Storm and will have a great chance of getting picked for NSW over the next couple of years, most players that join Melbourne end up as Rep players at some point. He will be a good signing for them although i'm not sure they needed him. They have a few young centres and Neilsen and O'Neil would have done a good job IMO, one of them will now play on the wing. I think Melbourne would of been better off spending the money on a forward as they look pretty light but i'm sure they bring some young players through that turn out to be quality, likes of Bromwich will come in and they've got a few cast offs from other clubs like Troy Thompson, Adam Woolnough etc that will no doubt go well.
Souths have obviously got the better deal as Inglis is the best centre in RL, no doubt about it. He can be lazy and do nothing during the regular rounds but i'm sure he'll be trying to impress at his new club and he'll get alot more attention there, he'll also win them plenty of games and come finals time he'll be playing great, he'll no doubt be in form come Origin time aswell, he usually is.
Souths have a couple of good young centres coming through, i'm looking forward to seeing how they go. Farrell and Vaivai, not sure who's gonna get first crack at Champion's centre spot, anyone any idea?

ingis to souths is a good deal for them, but im not sure his signing will make them win the competition, hes only a centre, and an inconsistant one at that
playing for the storm and the maroons, teams which can carry his inconsistancy is one thing, playing at a club which hasnt won a comp sice 1971 and where hes the main go to man, thats very different
hell be blamed for all their losses, much more expectation whilst at the storm he was part of the fab 5
champion is a very talented player and will kill it in a team like the storm
have a look at mat king in the storm and then what hes done at wire

| I think Melbourne may well have got the better deal! Inglis is a star no doubt and on his day is game winner, those days seem to be getting further apart though and I am not sure Sth's (where lets be honest they don;t have a great track record of taking good players and making them better) is a good fit for him, he'll love the rock star lifestyle too much. Champion will be hungy to prove how wrong they were to let him go and Melbourne can take a talent and turn it into something special. Champion has lots of ability and Melbourne will get the very best out of him. Add in the salary cap difference and for me I'd take Champions raw ability over Inglis's fame and fading star.
