Quote FoxyRhino="FoxyRhino"Why would a red shirt have been needed anyway? We must have played Halifax plenty of times when they were in the top division and surely our white shirt wouldn't have clashed with their blue and white one.'"
IIRC, the season before Holdsworth (the ref) moaned about a potential colour clash between the two teams.
Leeds main kit at the time was the same design as the red shirt, but blue with a yellow 'flash' across the chest.
IIRC, the change kit at the time was the first 'new' white change kit the club had ever had, also made by Umbro.
Halifax's kits were either blue & white stripes or maroon and white stripes. I think Halifax refused to wear their away kit at home and this would have clashed with our away kit, hence the need for a one-off 3rd strip.
