Stupidity to say the least. Have been supporting the dons for over 25 years through a few ups and mainly downs, but this has really knocked stuffing out of me. Through all financial turmoil have never really questioned whether players trying, and on most occasions put major errors down to lesser players, but to find out the club captain, who you have supported for nearly 10 years, has possibly made deliberate errors in games is shocking and disgraceful. I put over £25.00 into a fund to help Sean go to australia with GB schools, at a time I was unemployed and short of cash, and have always backed him to the full. If this is true I feel utterly let down, as I'm sure the club, players, and other fans all feel.



I know he didn't play in the Wakefield game, and as such couldn't influence the match. It is still immoral to bet against his own team mates. More worryingly is the suggestion that he has betted against donny in games he did play, where he may have influenced the outcome. I believe when he is quoted as saying that not the only player in rugby league doing it, similar to what Bloemy said when got drug ban, but that doesn't make it right.



Don't know what else to say, as still cant quite believe it. I'm sure if found to be true the club will take full action. It's not even that Leafy can use lack of intelligence as an excuse. As far as aware he is well educated and a teacher. There can be no excuse if this is true.



Either way, my beloved club have been dragged into the mire once again.

Gross misconduct. Instant sacking.

I have friends who think the game is bent, when they look at unexpected scores. But these friends don't take into account injuries, good players returning and all the other factors that can affect matches.

So I would like to think this sort of thing is not widespread.



Unfortunately, the temptation is there for some to have a bet.

But to chat to someone about it is barmy.



It does make you wonder how they get these stories however without actually tempting and entrapping the players.

I mean how did the conversation start in the first place?

The bookie puts the Sun onto it, then what?

Or a stranger sidles up to him in a pub and gets him into a conversation about match fixing?

Got to agree with you here if he's found guilty - the betting charges are one thing but I cannot see us functioning as an effective team with him in it after the comments he made about his own teammates. Also the club has reason to be angry as not only do these comments disgrace rugby league on the whole but especially the club.







Personally I disagree, I could be wrong but I don't remember either Long or Gleeson discussing ways to throw matches - also in their case it appeared they were making a one off bet due to the inside information they had on team selection ie. Millward was pretty much playing his reserves, whereas with the talk about Toulouse it at least implies that this has been going on for a while.
