The widnes fans seem to rate thackray, maybe he just doesn't perform against leigh? He seems to have all the attributes needed to be a good quality player, but just doesn't seem to apply himself or have the nouse? Kavanagh looked useful, although varkulis looked the player hardest to stop in the pack, wasnt he a centre at one time? if i was in charge, macgraff, kavanagh, pickersgill, i'anson and tyrer would make the SL squad, but i don't think any of them would be first choice initially.

OK, so keep the players and get rid of the coach then? Betts obviously can't coach them to a good enough level of either fitness or skills?

Cant fault the Widnes speccies who came to Leigh tonite they gave there team plenty of vocal support even when they where well behind , I,m sure with a input of several class players Widnes will become a decent side over the next few years its surprizing what a couple of new players

with talent can bring to a team just look at Hull KR since Dobson got injured they hardly won owt

This a silly thread as this be a totally different team with 1.6 million to spend, and buy some off the team going down.I think alot goes down to bad coaching.Thackeray never a fullback,Gerrard not a standoff,and Lunt is much better than Netherton, but plays this fat slow machine.Ropati should be replaced by Ford and why was Hecky and Grady not playing?Basically players ill disciplined,penalties,sets,composure and a leader is required.Noble or Kear to come as coach.

Get rid of the uselesss coaching staff bring in an experienced SL coach and with 1.6M£ to spend you'll do OK not spectacular for the first couple of years but after that all should come good, good luck.

Some more free money off the bookies again last night due to them underestimating how bad Widnes are. To be fair though Leigh looked very good and i fear when they play us it will be a cricket score as if Sheffields pack can totally dominate us then Leighs will trample over us. I used to take the mickey out of Leigh fans when they said they have been saying they have the best pack in the league for years as they clearly didnt. This season though they actually probably have. In all honesty i dont think their backs are that great in fact id have Faxs backs over theirs but with that pack on a roll its easy to see why they will dominate a lot of teams this season.

Don't kid yourself about Leigh being a 'very good attacking side.' Like yourselves they wouldn't win a single Super League game in a season. The fact that they took you to the cleaners last night sums up what a joke your inclusion in SL is.

You're spot on. Us, a good attacking side - you don't know the half of it, we're only averaging 46 points a game. Not good enough.



It really irks me, when people dismiss Championship sides, as not good enough for SL.



Please answer me one question - if your team (whoever they are) were in the Championship, how many SL quality players could you afford, on a cap of £300k?
