before i ring sky and get fobbed off, has any body had a plus box thats jumps and freezes on recored programmes, its really annoying, it doesnt let me rewind either.

Yes I had three and gave up in the end and opted for HD, touch wood it's been fine!

Yups, put down to a failing hard drive and started looking about for a replacement one on ebay

did you get ar@ed about by sky or was it a straight swap, only had it about 6 months

gutted, i take it all your memory gets wiped if i get it replaced

all the time mate!on our third now and game froze after forwarding,had to switch off and didnt work again for 3hours!!they do come out and change it but still pain in the !

Yep - i've lost count of the number of boxes we've had replaced:



Failed drives

Losing LNB2 (three times)

Fan running flat out 24/7

Skipping on playback (current box)

Failed recordings

Recordings without sound

Random programs being recorded

as a sky customer for over 20 years i rang up to enquire about getting sky+ they then told me i had to get sky+hd (i dont care for HD) and they were gonna charge me 60 quid for a box and 30 quid intallation. Yet as a new customer its only 30 quid for a box. They were unwilling to give any discount at all. Sod em. im sticking with my beta max

Fraid so, apparently there are ways to copy from disk to disk (not sure how) but if its due to data loss on the disk there is little point in doing that,

If only Sky had "activated " the USB port on their Sky + boxes so we could transfer anything we had recorded without the hassle of connecting up another machine .

The HD offer applies to new customers or current Sky customers with a premium package - Movies or Sport. I got the offer as I have Sky Sports World (i.e. all four Sky Sports Channels).
