Hull FC would like to provide supporters with an update regarding the visa applications for Cameron Phelps and Sam Obst, following misleading reports in the press.





Phelps has completed his application, including attending a biometric data appointment at the British Consulate in Sydney yesterday (Monday).



Following that, all documentation has now been submitted to the British High Commission in Canberra.



Their guidance is that applications should take three to ten working days once all information has been submitted.



The club is therefore hopeful that Phelps will be able to join up with his new teammates according to that time period.



Hull FC will update supporters as soon as they have confirmation that he has been issued his visa.



Meanwhile, following a number of enquiries to the club’s Tell Us feedback programme, the Black and Whites would also like to highlight how they secured a visa so quickly for Sam Obst and why this system cannot be utilised for Phelps.



Obst already held a visa and was currently a resident in this country, therefore, the club was able to use a fast track system for his new visa and enable him to play on Friday against Leeds.



The visa was received late on Friday afternoon and the RFL then cleared him to join the rest of the squad for the match that evening.



Across the game, Hull FC were aware of significant delays that have affected visa applications and therefore were willing to pay the necessary fees to enable a fast tracking of Obst’s visa. This was secured in four days.



Unfortunately, the fast track process is not available to players who are not inside the UK.
