IIRC, he went straight into the side when he came over, even though he clearly wasn't fit. He then went into the 21's for a while to trim down before regaining a place in the 17. It was only at the start of this season where I think he was unjustly left out.

Maybe he never played him as he was not ready from a fitness perspective, the coaches would know better than fans on this.
It's about getting the right balance with him, he started off not getting enough minutes and then ended up getting too many. Injuries will have also dictated that a bit as will the fact that he was playing so well.

| Assuming this thread is 'Expectations for Next Season' rather than 'who said what about who and when and were they right or wrong' then I would expect us to be again challenging for top 4.
An out an out half back, not someone who 'could also play hooker/centre/full back...' and who would reasonably be expected to stay injury free and provide cover for Horne and Long is IMO essential and is hopefully our first priority.
Many other clubs have more players leaving and coming but this does not necessarily equal strengthening their squads.
All in all it will be a quiet off season, hopefully the Board will freeze ticket prices and we will sell more or less the same number of passes as this year.
Time to go into hibernation and a Merry Xmas to you all.
C'MON U HULL.

His use of Moa for the first half of the season was an absolute joke. It really took the biscuit when Moa played in the away game at Leeds and was the best forward on the pitch only to be dropped the following week when Leeds came to the KC in the challenge cup.

| I predicted 6th last year because to reach the next level we need a world class coach, nothing's changed,so 6th again next year.

We've not moved forward but most others have. We'll be overtaken in the league next year.
Think our points difference reflected a truer picture of our on-pitch abilities, too - i.e. not able to score much. Feasibly the only difference next year whilst retaining the current squad could potentially be that Horne and Long get more game time. Give this year's injury record, though, how likely is that?
We've got the squad on paper (apart from a youthful experienced half) but we look like Warrington did before Smith replaced [itheir[/i young English coach.
So all in all I think we'll slip. 8th to 10th next year unless we appoint a "Director of Coaching" pdq. Not going to happen, though.

| People are saying we will do well if Horne and Long stay fit, I'm not so sure in the case of Horne, he deserves time to find fitness and form and should be allowed to do this in his own time, you don't become a bad player overnight and we might see the best of him again, but when he has played he has been just as poor as Washbrook is there and Thorman was last year, we need to bring someone in to play 6 straight away, and then down the line Horne can try and win his place back.

This is not the first time I've posted a comment about Horne in this context - he was easily one of the better players at the start of the season before being injured (in my opinion of course)

I actually agree. He was awesome in the Wigan away game which is why it was such a shame he got injured. Since then however he has been varying levels of cack.

Also got consecutive motm awards not long after that. Then he came back and played injured before being out again.
When he was fully fit he looked very good.
