| The area is a e.hole and needs flattening before any new school is built . What's happening to my old school Chiltern then ? . They'll be practically next door to each other.

Yeah, never been in person but I've seen it on a virtual tour, mightily impressive. A couple of families close to me have sent their kids there. Let's hope it keeps delivering.

| The idea of the free schools is that the government doesn't run them and doesn't tell them how they should be run, they have some general outline rules on what the school should provide but its up to the headteacher and governors how its run, what it teaches, what the school hours are, what rate the teachers are paid etc.
I agree that there are risks with that and you need to check the quality BUT if the whole starting point of this debate is "Hull schools are crap" then maybe it says government doesn't have all the answers and maybe some enterprising local individuals might actually have some better ideas than the government on how to run a school?
Look at Hull FC since Adam Pearson has come in, he's a private individual with some fresh ideas and seems to have got the club moving in a positive direction, would it be better if instead of private individuals you had every club being run centrally by Nigel Wood and the RFL...?

Wow so every club would be asking for pledges and the RFL owns all the grounds

| Don't worry - it won't happen.
I am going to win the euro millions, buy the site and stop anyone building on it.
When Ar_ehole Allam makes more threats I am going to build a new all seater 20K stadium for Hull and donate it to the club free of charge.
Well it's a nice thought and although I've got nowt against the KC wouldn't it be good to play at The Boulevard (but a decent stadium) again ?

| These new schools with there modern architecture are thought to make the children espire to great things. The only thing you need is a water tight square box with some windows a couple of hole for ventilation. But mainly top rate teachers and ethics installed into the kids. The new schools are great to look at but are staffed by newly qualified teachers. My lad goes to Trinity,a great school for results but is falling to pieces. It goes to show you don't need new buildings, just teachers who want to teach and kids that want to learn.

| I suppose a good comparison of these new academy schools is, Its OK having a KC stadium but if your coach is Agar and your pupils are Thorman, Thackery and Raynor
