It's the old ex-player theory, the longer it is since they played, the better they get, because it's mainly the good things you remember. That doesn't mean that only the good times existed. The atmosphere at the Boulevard was as up and down as most grounds, it's just the level of the highs and the attachment to them that warps memory into thinking it was always like that. I started going a little before the Sharks days and at times the atmosphere was as dire as I've ever known at a rugby league game, but then at other times it really felt special. It's the nature of sport.



I remember games where pretty much the only sounds I heard were the people around me slagging off Hunte/Seru/AN Other, which is just as it is now.

I'd say the McAlpine incident is the single biggest factor that has affected the atmosphere at home games. Dropped off after that when certain songs/chants were considered taboo, and has never quite got back to where it was.

I remember the first time I witnessed the scarf burning I nearly wet myself with fear I thought we the stand would burn down!!
