I drive at 59 mph all the way there and back, the 90 minute commute would be nearer to 60-65 mins if it was dual carriageway, i'd rather than 50 mins longer per day at home with the kids.

Why can't they just run more trains to York from Hull ?.

You know as per my earlier point they are over priced and poorly operated. Leeds to York on the otherhand is every 20 mins is right to 2am in the morning. Last train back from York if i go out for a drink after work is 10.03pm.

Thats disgraceful. No wonder were the ,end of Yorkshire.

Unfortunetly the best solution is the most expensive (by far I would imagine) and thats dueling the whole thing.



Failing that, then there just going to have to stick a rather cheaply implemented lower speed limit.

I worked on the Market Weighton By-Pass in the early 90's and remember speaking to Humberside CC at the time about extending the by-pass around Shiptonthorpe, apparently this was the original plan but as these things take so long to get from planning to construction the costs increased so much that the Shiptonthorpe bit was dropped. I remember this making the tie-in of the by-pass more difficult as the alignment had originally been designed for the extended by-pass. Dualling the whole stretch from MW to York would cost hundreds of millions and unless bridges were installed at the junctions could increase the number of accidents. The government won't spend that sort of money for some years yet.
