I dont know why but I thought if you had players at your club through exemption you couldn't sign anymore "quota" players until your total number including the exemptions was below the maximum? I may have just made that up though

It sounds like just the sort of addendum to put the final nail in the coffin of anyone who thought they grasped the whole thing.

Now that you come to mention it, I do seem to remember something about it. Either that or something where if you brought in new players the exemption wouldn't apply for a further renewal. I.e. if, say, Gene signed a 1-year extension he'd be exempt, but if they brought in a new player for next season a further extension for Gene would have him as a non-fed.
