| In my opinion Ian Watson did enough to be named coach of the year. Saints topped the league by a lot of points, but they had a lot of expensive star names in their side, and this is no criticism of Saints because i wish we had done the same. The Salford side had one star player who had left Australia under a cloud, but what a job he did.Ian Watson had to suffer other teams signing his players whilst he had to sign lesser known players, but what a success he's made of it without spending too much money. What if they beat Saints, would he be thought of as the top coach.Just my thoughts.

| Quote SaleSlim="SaleSlim"Cheers for the best wishes on here guys, it's been an utterly bonkers season and whilst I was confident we weren't going to be the whipping boys most people predicted I had a lot of faith that Watto could keep us out of the bottom 4 or 5.
I actually looked at Hull's squad pre-season and tipped them to make OT and I've been really shocked at how up and down they've been as you've got some cracking players. In Josh Jones you've got one hell of a player and he'll always get a great reception back at the AJ Bell as Josh Griffin does.
Can we beat Saints? We almost pulled it off at the TWS earlier this season and I think the players truly believe it could happen. Whatever happens we'll enjoy the day as it may be another 30 years for me before I see it happen again.
Look forward to seeing you guys again next season but just make sure you give us a bigger stand for our 5000 travelling support.....

What an absolutely wonderful story - it must be what dreams are made of - well done to everyone at your club.
It was a great picture at the end of the game against Wigan to see that young Salford lad in tears of happiness. All together a great story for rugby league, only enhanced by Jackson Hastings winning (deservedly) the Man of Steel. As a game we should be getting loads of media coverage with this story and Toronto coming in, hope the powers that be can take advantage of the publicity.

Funny you mention that as Jacko saw that clip and invited the kid to training today (not sure how he got out of school for it tho!). I was in tears at the end of the game.... that kid is a lucky bugger, he hasn't had to watch Salford for 30 years like I have!
The final is just a day out for us long suffering fans and (again) everyone is expecting Saints to win so we've got absolutely nothing to lose (except the game of course ). Never ever dreamt that I'd see Salford play at Old Trafford or Salford City FC play at Wembley and I'm gonna see both in the same year!!
The Wire and Wigan fans at work that have made my life a constant hell are gonna get it both barrels this week....

| if not for a dodgy video ref decision at langtree park earlier in the season, salford would have won, providing most of the team dont get stage fright, i reckon it could be a close game....saints may panic if salford are in the game with 20 to go!

Watson probably would have won if the votes did not have to be cast by mid August. At that date, too early in my opinion, Holbrook was the obvious candidate.

| How lovely to see Gareth O'Brien's drop goal on BBC Breakfast this morning. Not far from the same spot where Kirk Yeaman sent Shaul through on Good Friday 2016. Such a marvellous launching pad for our back to back Wembley wins and Salford's upward climb to the GF.

He can pack that in.

| Sad to see the biggest game of the season so spectacularly ruined by inept refereeing.
Saints are a good team. They've not needed the inconsistent decisions going in their favour.
Just glad it's not us but that on no way makes it right.

Felt like that all season watching saints to be honest, by far the best team in the comp, but get so many decisions going they way

| Some key decisions gone against salford but saints have edged the game. I had thought it might be a blow out tonight but salford have dug in really well. I wish we could defend like they do. Wed have been 30 points down at half time if wed been playing saints tonight
