Great news if it comes off and maybe one of the reasons for the U19 merger. It gives the picture a whole different look.

In theory its a good idea, but will be interested to see how it works and who plays in it.



I personally think this would be better as a merged team and leave the 19's separate.

Great idea and I hope that many teams end up participating. All they need to do is scrap the U23 bit and call it something like 'A team' as the OP says.

Yes, it's good news but having it as an U23 competition seems arbitrary. Also I thought the primary reason for merging the under 19's was to reduce cost. I would have thought having an U23 squad would be expensive.

if its true that city play their reserve games at the kc,smc haven't a leg to stand on.

Several championship sides have been running u23 reserve sides for a couple of years. They would relish the chance to play super league reserve teams
