Find it a bit sad that Wakey fans have seen their team deservedly win with a good performance and were the better team for the majority of the game, yet rather than talking about Cockayne's line breaks or Sykes controlling the play they would rather talk about Paul Wellens and the referee...wonder if those posters are the senile old blokes who blamed me personally and found me to be a disgrace to rugby league because Wellens spoke to the referee??
'"
While ever old rubber face continues to whinge and moan at every decision he will get grief and be a talking point for fans. It is not what we expect in rugby league and I for one can't understand why some, most notably Wellens and Sinfield, are allowed to get away with it when other players are punished for such dissent. Wellens was at his cry baby best today and watching him boot the ball into the crowd at the end made the victory all the sweeter!

| Cracking result yesterday, I take my hat of to the team. They are full of confidence right now and we are playing some damn good stuff, although we need to teach Peter Fox how to defend sharpish, its becoming a major issue. That said can't knock his effort. Huge game now next week, win that and a top eight tour is on!
And i've got to agree, Wellens is an embarrassment with his constant whinging. The blokes a good player but spoils it all with the constant screaming at officials. Why they stand for it I don't know, bin him and if he continues send him off. He'll soon stop doing it.

| Everything is there to kick on next season and go on to better things, the players going well and showing spirit and determination, the fans were great all round the ground everyone shouting and singing and you could see it helped lift the players and to a man at the end applauded the fans for doing so.If the side dont make the top 8 it wont be through the lack of effort thats for sure.

Mike Rush was hilarious on Super League Full Time. Talk about having a proper sulk because some decisions went against the Mighty St Helens. Perhaps he should watch some games without his rose tinted spectacles on and look at how many times they do get decisions in their favour over the course of a season (especially against bottom half teams)
Pathetic whinge from a coach and hopefully the RFL will be in touch to explain to him that his team cannot always get every decision.

Seeing as Paul Sykes kicked a drop goal into the crowd with seconds left, I am not sure how Wellens managed to boot the ball into the crowd as well? Or are you trying to say it was him and not Sykes that kicked the ball??
Wellens is the Saints captain and is therefore allowed to speak to the referee if he thinks something is wrong (such as when he was taken out off the ball by Danny Kirmond for Wakefield's 2nd try that I havent noticed many Wakefield fans complaining about Alibert on that one), as is Sinfield at Leeds. If it was such a big issue I am sure the RFL would have taken action by now.
As for victory being made sweeter becuase of "cry baby Wellens" I think you need to get a grip...as my original post said you were the better team and won a close game in the dying seconds. Saints have won games many times in this fashion and the buzz it gives is fantastic, so why do you feel the need to concentrate more on Paul Wellens and what he does?
As for Rush's comments, I think he has got a fair point. Alibert was a joke. His comments are on the Sky Sports website and what he says is correct:
Quote J.T="Mike Rush""Taking nothing away from Wakefield, they're in great form and deserved the win, but I'm sick of being involved in games like that when he's refereeing.
He kills us. Every time we've had Thierry Alibert in a game this year we've ended up in situations like that: games with no control about them.
I appreciate I'm going to get in trouble for it, but every single time we have this guy, he hammers the game."'"
By saying Wakefield deserved the win, I dont think he is blaming the referee for the fact that we lost. I think he is making the point that in every game Alibert referee's us, he spoils the game which he did again yesterday with his incompetence.

Well to be fair to Mike Rush, we've been diddled by this wally twice this season. There have been a few matches I've seen this year not involvong us where Aliabert has gone out of his to spoil. So Mike Rush, despite his rant does have a point. I think more coaches ought to say whats really on their mind rather sugarcoat the post match interviews just to please the authorities.

Did we not get close to a re-start and then the whistle went? and who had the ball in hand at that point.

He is but he is not allowed to approach the touch judge in an aggressive manner, give him a mouthful and jab his finger in his face. If the touch judge had any balls he would have advised Alibert and Wellens should have been in the bin for 10 mins for dissent.
BTW I agree with you re Danny Kirmond tackling the player without the ball. However, that is more than cancelled out by the comedy moment for your last try where Meli gives himself up by stopping as the pass is so far forward and Alibert waves him to play on.

Wellens had the ball by the halfway line when the hooter went following another of his paddys because Terry Albert wouldn't stop the clock!

Thanks for the advice on how and what I should celebrate but I'll go with my own choices thanks! I find it amusing when a petulant moaner like Wellens, who seems to think he and his team have a divine right to have every decision and result go their way, is on the losing side and watching him get more and more stroppy as the game went on!

I agree, with where I was sat the pass to Meli was right in front of me and it did look forward...I thought Alibert was awful for both sides and Rush was right to complain that he spoils games because he did his best.

You're welcome for the advice, after all we are more experienced in such celebrations than yourself so happy to pass this on to you
That really does just go to show what a sad little person you are - you take more delight in Paul Wellens losing and seeing his reaction than the joy of the Wakefield players!
FWIW I think Wellens being annoyed that we lost shows the passion he has for the club and how much winning means to him (mind you, a bloke who has won 15 major trophies in his career and played for SL's most successful club wont be used to losing that much ) and I would rather see our captain clearly unhappy with defeat at the end of a game than feeling sorry for himself or standing there with his head down.
