| Quote The Avenger="The Avenger"Apparently there are a number of fans who question the commitment to the club of our Chairman.
Well in the hope that this will end any speculation as to his 100% desire to see Wakefield Trinity rise from the ashes of the Elston era, here is some information regarding our accounts.
We seem to have made a small profit from the 2014 season which in turn followed what looked like an inflated profit from the 2013 season. I have never doubted his commitment. He comes in the cats bar and I've seen him personally chat to disgruntled fans and try to sort things out. This is an awesome commitment. Gives me some hope in these uncertain times
The accounts also state:
At the end of the year the club had net liabilities of £1,511,688, but of that figure £1,016,974 is owed to shareholders, of which £853,500 is owed to Chairman Michael Carter.
I guess for the few even this might not be enough but surely it illustrates that right or wrong the decisions being made are always made with the best of intentions and not designed to cause hurt or hardship.
Can we all get behind this, we are in the fight of our lives and we need to pull together again!'"

| Quote Khlav Kalash="Khlav Kalash"Walked past the club shop today in the Ridings. Naturally it was closed (why pay someone double time eh?) and the only thing visible from the outside was two small A4 sheets of paper promoting a raffle. Anyone walking past would not have a clue there is an important home game in two weeks time. I don't think you need an expensive marketing guru to sort that situation out!'"
Jeez Khlav get a grip. You are so far wide with this one it's got to be a joke.
Plenty of other things to spend our money on than the shop on bank holiday.
And a call out to everyone on the forum. Can we all keep Khlav up to date with the dates for games coming up. I'm kinda disappointed we left him alone on this one. Are we meant to be a rugby family or what!

Poptart it's not so much the shop was closed, and there was plenty open in the Ridings, it's the fact the club hasn't taken a cheap opportunity to advertise the game to potential customers who may come to the match. Existing season ticket holders know when the game is on. This is about attracting the casual fan. If we don't grow the support we'll continue to with the trend of an ever decreasing supporter base meaning the club will find it that bit harder to compete in the future.

Absolutely Bang on Khlav. A Big poster in the window saying Buy your tickets here. Costs absolutely nowt !
I have said before, unless you are a die hard fan that is prepared to search out information on Wakefield Trinity, the people of Wakefield would have no idea that the club still even exists.
its all about being seen and heard.

This is a really poor attempt at a rallying cry and will frankly just polarise opinion, so IMHO a poor effort even if a worthy one.
Avenger you strike me as a bright person, hence I find it hard to believe you are seriously suggesting MC has injected £853,000 into the club. I seriously doubt he has but seeing as I have not seen the accounts I can't examine them fully. As there are no shareholders and the club is Ltd I'm surprised you've seen them, can you please direct us all as to where we can view them?
Accounts are complicated beasts and can be made to read many many ways so I suspect it's more like this. MC has taken on the liabilities of 850k, he's not however put up 850k worth of securities. He's able to do this because the banks know that WTRLFC (or Michael Carter Ltd) receive 1.2 million in Sky money every year as per contract and that money secures the debt. Even if we drop he knows most of the liabilities would be written off if the club failed as he personally would not be liable, that's why it's a Limited Liability company.
He may have put some monies into the club and he may well have put up some securities on some of the more fragile debts - and good for him - but 850k, sorry Avenger but though I lack the info and am no accountancy expert I just don't believe that.
I'm sure he's doing a lot and seems straight as a die in that respect but let's not guild the lilly - we are lucky to have him I agree, in fact we are lucky to have anyone.

| Got to agree with KK.
If we only do 1 promotional poster then the place to display it would be on the Club shop window.

OK maybe I was being a bit cheeky. I take your point about putting something in the window, as long as you are not expecting the shop open all the time.
If I was going to put posters up, they need to be in places with maximum traffic with motorway exits and major routes in town.
Obviously the shop poster costs nothing so should always be there.

| We have been around for 120 years, does a poster on the club shop really make a difference?
People may not like what he is doing at the moment but he is giving us a fighting chance of staying in SL withe the appointment of BS and if BS leaves at the end of the season, who's to say that there isn't already a replacement lined up, because who would have expected BS to be at Wakey?
Expect the unexpected.

I'd expect the shop to be open when there is more chance potential customers are likely to go into it (weekends and bank holidays) and if it must be closed during the day perhaps choose midweek.
I agree a large billboard poster with plenty of traffic passing by would be much better, however there isn't the money nor the appetite to go down that route. I don't know how much a billboard costs, but I did see my old school advertise on the poster by the side of Trinity Walk and a small cake shop in Ossett advertise on the one as you pass under the railway bridge by the side of the Seat garage on Denby Dale Road.
The whole reason I posted what I did was to expand on what lampyboy and bren brought to the thread.

Not quite sure what I've done wrong here.
I've cut n pasted exactly what it says in the accounts, no spin or changing the context, draw your own conclusion as to whether it's cash injected or guaranteeing debts/loans and liabilities.
Neither am I protecting or Championing anyone, just think it's time we started fighting those from outside rather than tearing ourselves apart with infighting
