Saw what I needed to see today. Effort, enthusiasm and no little skill. Had Wigan on the racks until the final 15 minutes when the intensity in defence dropped off, coincidently when Kirmond left the field. No you'e not. Very galling for cockayne's pass to be called forward in last 1/4. Can we please vary our kick offs. Why kick to the best offensive runner in the league when we need a solid 2nd half start? Seemed brain dead to me, as did the rest of the kicks to him. Thought cockaine had a shocker maybe due to not trusting his centre's defence, but charnley had 3 walk ins which isn't good enough at this level.

Smith and Kirmond went off and couldn't come back on so we were down on subs. Webster said after the game that we only had 1 sub left with 20 mins to go.

Wigan didn't have those issues so were bound to end stronger than us. Added to that turning the ball over in our half a few times and the defense eventually broke.

Had the team worked their booty off for the games that were winnable we would have been in the top 8, so putting effort into a game that was ultimately unwinnable IMO should not be ample reason to forget what has gone on before.

We shouldn't be praising the players for today's performance, we should be asking them why it wasn't there for the previous two games against teams who are at our level.

I said at the start of the season that I thought this squad had enough ability in it to at least compete for the top 8 and possibly the top 6 depending on a couple of other teams, I stand by that opinion, and as such think that this season has been blown for reasons not known to most of us, say what you want but today's performance proves my point and yet some fans are happy to come away from a game losing without questioning why a performance of today's quality that would have beaten most teams in the league has been missing for most of the season and against teams that are far more beatable than Wigan.
