For what its worth i have Southern down at evens for the captains armband, but untill Agars had time to work with him then he should hang fire.

I would've thought Southern would be a strong contender just based on the fact that he has bags of experience and is known to be tough as nails.



It would however be nice to see lads like Mariano, Johnson and Amor given vice-captain type roles, to help them develop leadership skills and grow their confidence.



Even though I feel a bit weird about it, I agree with NGB4C - RA will need some time with the squad to see who really has the captain's qualities.

Southern seems the obvious choice when you consider the other candidates on the poll, all of which don't really have what it takes to be a team captain imo. He seems the sort of character to lead by example (from what i saw in NRL a few years ago) has experience and more importantly is a ginger. Every teams needs a ginger.



Some of the other "candidates" clearly dont have the experience (Mariano, Amor, John etc) and others don't seem to be captain types, such as Lauitiiti and may not provide the gametime to be effective.



The other one i would consider would be Tim Smith, if it wasn't for the uncertainty surrounding the off-field issues he has had.

I've gone for bluey cos when the bricks are down he would be the one to take it up and smash em. If you have seen him play you will know you would rather have him with you then against you. A real leader

It's virtually a scratch side, so I'd take Southern - good reputation, no nonsense senior player - and let the others get on with their game.

From what Vince Mellars has been posting on Twitter it looks like Danny Washbrook has got the nod.
