| As a neutral watching the game I thought Wakey looked quite promising and the score certainly flattered Bradford. Wakey were much the more enterprising side throughout and were just caught out through a lack of discipline in the 2nd half and a touch of naivity.
Top level rugby games are decided by small margins and unfortunately for Wakey, on this occasion they came out on the wrong side. Take away the interception try and the ref pulling Wakey back for a forward pass that wasn't and you should have had a decent lead at half time. Then the game could have had a very different outcome.
Paul Aiton has impressed me both times I've seen him on tv. Has a cracking tackling technique and runs well from dummy half. Aside from that woeful pass out wide in the 1st half he's not done much wrong.
Agree with one or two other posters that Collis looks a handful and needs to get more of the ball.
Kirmond was the standout against Bulls and your back 3 (Cockayne, Fox & Mathers) look dangerous.
Tim Smith needs to inject himself into the game more - he's got the potential, just needs to show it.
Overall there's plenty of improvement in Wakey and you could yet challenge for the 8 if the improvement comes rapidly.
Bradford on the other hand fulfilled their nickname of 'Dulls'. Fair play - if you try somert (crossfield kick) and it works you try it again but I'd hate to think I was paying full price to watch that monotonous drivel every week. Lucky for their fans they virtually gave season tickets away again this year. Its not hard to see why the Bulls have come woefully unstuck when they've come up against the top sides in the comp who can defend the kicks and don't piggy back 'em up field with penalties.

| Quote Tricky2309="Tricky2309"Again I can't agree the rugby is crap. IMO, we have seen more entertainment in 3 games this season than the whole of last season and probably the second half of the season before under JK. The results of the last two games could be construed as crap, because we could and probably should have won both, but this early in the new season and I am happy to see some good flowing rugby and being disappointed we haven't won all 3 games. The execution should improve as the team play more together and obviously that will enable us to convert more of the chances the way we are playing is creating.'"
You are right that we thrown the ball about a lot more and we have more quality across the park, but this is RL not just touch and pass and you don't get anywhere if you don't do the hard work first and foremost! One without the other is just a poor result and for many years we have taken advantage of other teams doing exactly the same!

| Quote Tricky2309="Tricky2309"Sorry TRB but I can't agree with this. A JK coached team would not have had the nouse to get over the line even if we were camped on it - far too predictable. In addition, the fitness levels of the team would have been nowhere near what they are now cos Sanctuary would probably still have been the conditioner.
Considering some of the inept performances under JK over the years, I am surprised that after only 3 games of Agars reign with a totally new squad, someone such as yourself, who normally is fairly realistic in what you expect can draw such harsh conclusions.'" you must have that wrong somewhere mate.
i watched his team with a load of academy players and young blokes take more or less the same bradford side to bits last season. so strictly speaking you are wrong mate

| Thought we went well in the first half but didn't make enough of the ball that we had. We looked good when we got a roll on and played some really fast stuff but at times to fast and that is when mistakes were made. The second half collapse was worrying but I was encouraged by the first half and with a bit more control we would have been out of sight. Not sure what good comparisons with Kear are going to do it's just going over the same old ground and serves no purpose.

Count how many hammerings the same team took last season. The last 2 games have been close affairs, we play a good brand of rugby now that's pleasing on the eye. We will win plenty of games this season playing the same as this, just a few tweaks here and there. This is 10x the team we had last season, Kears style may have beaten the odd team but very boring in comparison.

Yes we look like a decent side and if it clicks we'll be a exciting side to watch, but yesterday and pleasing to the eye just don't fit in with the game i watched.
We will get better when they gel and the pitches dry up BUT thats when the bigger teams kick in.
Anyway lets hope for the best.

Thank you for this post which is a very fair summation of the game - It's easy to write the team off because of a bad result but looking back there are very positive signs and eventually when we learn to take our chances and show discipline I'm sure the results will come. At times in the first half we actually ran the Bulls
ragged if only we had converted that pressure into points!

| You should of gone in a half time ahead and when you scored first in the second half you should of kicked on. You didn't and that was in no small part due to Bulls having the better attitude and raising their game. In the second half our pack got on top and started making easy meters, your players couldn't cope and that's where the penalties came from.
Am i right in believing that was pretty much your full strength side, with just Amor missing?

| It comes down to Agar's comment at the fan forum that he conceded our pack was light and so would have to play more intelligently. This seems to mean going round them than through them. I suppose we are paying the price for our recruitment. No big prop rotation and no goal kicker. I presume it is down to no one suitable being available and so you play with what you've got. If you look at the first 50 minutes, we were good. It was the way we lost the plot in the final 30 minutes that leaves a sour taste. If we had defused a couple of those early kicks, I think it might have been our game. Even for their first, Collis hardly contested the ball at all. Just let the Bradford guy get in front of him.
The problem I have is that we have lost two home games that we should have won, and was in our ability to win, and both of them were probably four-pointers for a play-off spot.
