=#004000here's mine for the Beeb
Dear steve
Reference 103945
Thanks for your e-mail regarding ‘Look North’.
I understand that you felt that the report on proposals by Wakefield Trinity Wildcats to build a new stadium was bias.
=#FF0000We reported on the issue accurately and fairly, and made it clear that many rugby fans are supporting it, but some people living nearby are unhappy. We also featured a quote in support on bbc.co.uk: “But Phil Townsend, chairman of Stadium Wakefield Action Group, said the issue of a new venue was "do or die" for the club.
"The stadium is vital for providing sporting facilities for Wakefield," he said. "It will be home for the Wildcats but it is also a community stadium and will be available for use for everybody."
A range of views and opinions were heard. It is Wakefield Council who will rule upon the matter and we made the point many times throughout that anyone with any views to express had until Friday to contact the council to contribute to their consultation.
I am pleased to enclose information on the planning application. Since this has been taken from a non-BBC website, we can’t accept responsibility for the contents, but I hope it’s helpful to you:
planning.wakefield.gov.uk/online ... CT8QQ04200
I would like to assure you that I have registered your complaint onto our audience log which is made available to senior management and production staff.
Kind Regards
Marie-Therese Gibson
=#004000and then if that's not bad enough to the second complaint of how much time we got
Dear Steve

Thanks for your e-mail.
I understand you felt the coverage of the proposals to build a new stadium for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats was biased in favour of those against the project.
=#FF0000While I appreciate your concerns, we don't aim for a balance of opinion within one single item or programme as it's not always possible or practical. Instead, we provide this balance over a period of time across our entire news and current affairs output.
You can read more of our coverage at the BBC Online link below, where we will continue to provide a platform for both sides of the argument.
Please be assured that your complaint will be added to our audience log, a daily report of audience feedback that's circulated to many BBC staff, including members of the BBC Executive Board, channel controllers and other senior managers.
The audience logs are seen as important documents that can help shape decisions about future programming and content.
Thanks again for taking the time to contact us.
Kind Regards
Andrew Hannah
=#004000so they think its fair and balanced to allow such a news item to be shown at a critical point of its application, at least it can be logged to help future programming and content
I don't know if we can get any further than their bin
who over see's complaints when they aren't dealt with properly

sent this back to them to see how they worm out of this one
To whom it may concern,
the two emails that you sent me, I would be pleased to know how you can come across with these comments
1, We reported on the issue accurately and fairly
clearly the amount of time suggests other wise
2 and made it clear that many rugby fans are supporting it
in the program shown there was no such evidence given that 15,000 signatures from around Wakefield and surrounding area of where it is to be built was in support of the development
3 “But Phil Townsend, chairman of Stadium Wakefield Action Group, said the issue of a new venue was "do or die" for the club.
made it clear that it seemed like a desperate attempt for the club, it will be a community stadium which all sports will get the benefit, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats will just use the stadium not own it
4 planning.wakefield.gov.uk/online ... CT8QQ04200
thank you for the link but I'm aware of it
5 While I appreciate your concerns, we don't aim for a balance of opinion within one single item or programme
at such a critical point of the proceedings it was so far one sided it was unbelievable, it was so biased as someone looking on for the first time they would be in uproar,
and the amount of time that you gave Phil Townsend he had no chance of a right to reply, if that is not bias then nothing is.
I am not satisfied with your replies and would like to know who over see's your complaints procedure to make sure that you are dealing with them correctly,
I await your reply

| Quote Fordy="Fordy"That looks like a very standard reply and I guess does not address the specifics you raised in your email/letter.
What a surprise!!!'"
I did make specific points and have recieved no answer to them, i did not pull any punches but stayed on the right side
If they can't answer points raised why bother at all.

| Quote Inflatable_Armadillo="Inflatable_Armadillo"we do need to put our ducks in a row first '"
Are these by any chance rare ducks of special scientific interest just waiting for a chance to live happily ever after on one of the new ponds at Newmarket?
And I'm getting worried about the rugby ball - where has he/she gone? Does he/she realise the game is up and has gone to a corner somewhere to lick their wounds. Or are they scared of armadillos and what they might know about them...

| Quote TRB="TRB"Unlikely I am told.
The council will make their judgement then, assuming it gets the nod from WMDC, it will have to go to region to adjudicate due to the change of land from Green Belt - this is the automatic process. What happens then is the big call, but let's worry about that later.
I'm sorry, but patience is going to be required and it could be a long summer!
Stay strong!
'"
Having had previous knowledge of the Salford stadium application it will go to regional office. They will then sit on it for 3 months before referring it to the secretary of state. (Public enquiry) A decision will then be made 6 months after it was first called in.
I would expect you will have a planning decision by about March/April 2011.
Best of luck and Keep the faith . . it's taken my club Salford 10 years just to get on site!!

| Won't that simply be too late for us? Applications for next round of SL licences have to be submitted by November this year, with the announcements on who is in/out in Spring 2011. How can we expect to have the stadium completely sorted by then? It looks like the [iAngry Residents [/idon't actually have to get the planning application knocked back - the delay due to the planning process may well spoil any chance of a new stadium being delivered in time to keep us in Super League. And if the stadium aspect of the planning application becomes unrequired, then how are the developers going to sell the entire deal to the council?

It would be too late and I imagine 1 of 2 things happening.
1: Trinity lose their license and cease to exist. The development still gets the go ahead but without the stadium and community facilities.
2: Trinity lose their license, the development gets the in ahead but the stadium is scaled down to reflect the league status of the club.
Of course the whole thing may not get approval but I don't think that will happen.

I may be way off the mark here, but I thought the stadium deal had sod all to do with the council and more to do with the canny person who sold the land to the developers in the first place. But I also thought one of the prerequisites for the sale was the development of a stadium. And if the council have to lay off a large number of their own employees with the planned public spending cuts, do you think they'll turn their noses up at a private development that aims to create about 1,000 new jobs in the area?
