I live in Barnsley, the potential is huge there is also a bit of discontent with the football at the moment there is a standard charge of £25 for match tickets making it a dear do for Family's. Always thought it would have made sense to put the new ground at the Barnsley side of Wakefield so the area could be tapped for new support.

At Sandal Spartans we've recruited two lads from Barnsley, neither had ever played Rugby League before but both have made huge advancements in their game.
Ones a front rower who has started hitting the line and busting tackles the others a second rower who has real pace but no regard for his or anyone else's well being, he gets the crowd on their toes everytime he touches a ball.
I think both recently bought season tickets for next year.
Barnsley is a massively untapped resource IMO.'"
It sure is during the 60s supporters buses ran from Barnsley and the match reports were in the barnsley chronicle
A lot of people watch RL in Barnsley it has huge potential a game on the road at Oakwell would not go a miss the fan base is here to be tapped |

Keiron Hyde and Dale Lawton both came through Dodworth.
There has been a strong amateur game in Barnsley for a good twenty-five years now and this became quite strong when sheffield were in the top flight. As i have played amateur rugby for Dodworth, Hoyland and Rotherham in the past I have seen some clubs come and go but there has always been a good support at amateur and all this really needs imo to gain some decent return is a willing by one of the big clubs (hopefully wtw) to get involved and bring in some good support and interest in this potentially hot bed for talent.
I still remeber us beating saints at oakwell in our first year in superleague (i think it was our first year please correct if not) and thought that this could well have made a really good road show for our team and sport in the area.'"
I for one would not mind taking a game or two on the road, Barnsley people are a laugh and passionate here hre to the Barnsley Wildcats..  |

Plenty of young `uns in Barnsley play League at school but by open age time not a lot happening, unfortunatly too many union teams around willing too poach. Wakey and other league teams need to go and help the likes of Barnsley Broncos build. Not just for the good of Wakey but to help the better code

Very true I think the Wildcats are busy setting up and rebuilding connections with local clubs, as part of the first stage but the above area's plus Barnsley should deffo be looked into...  |
