Just reading the thread about where did we go wrong and seeing all those Trinity names of the past led me to think who was the greatest Trinity tackler in living memory?

My vote goes to someone who never seems to get a mention, but to me was even better than either Nigel Bell or Geoff Wraith.

Who these days remembers Geoff Wriglesworth? He was a farmer from the York area as I recall and Trinity only had him for a short while around 1972 after playing for Bradford Northern and Leeds.

Rich Slater, one game I remember he made five tackles in five play the balls, missed the sixth though!

I agree RS indeed was a prolific and safe tackler. I recall seeing Sam Obst doing a similar thing to Slater on several occasions.

Has to be Graham Idle for me. But there have been a lot of others. These days it seems to be all about cuddling.

Geoff Wriglesworth was one of the old school. None of this four men in a tackle all going around the upper body. He usually went in one-on-one low around the legs shoulder first. A joy to watch.

And he had a hand-off like a piston.
