Hopefully Leigh fans woke up tonight and realised the value of dual contracts and partnerships with clubs like Wigan RLFC.

Yes Leigh won the Eurovision Song Contest. I know it was their Wembley but the filth ridden chanting was vile. To spend 5/10 minutes chanting anti Widnes stuff too was pathetic.



Tonight showed the difference between full time professionals and part time semi professionals. The strength difference was startling. Not one Leigh player made progress upon collision yet Wigan players made yards easily to the point even Josh Charnley was able to steamroll Leigh players as if he was Mal Meninga.



A salutory lesson tonight for Leythers. Anybody can beat up on juniors in meaningless friendlies and carp about it. Oddly tonight the likes of Littler did not want to know when Lockers and Hanson were hitting them with textbook tackles.



The main thing for Leigh was tonight provided money beyond that the quality of players at Leigh has gone backwards. McNally looked very poor and like many lacking in conditioning. Brierley showed some ability although some of the individual spark seems to have been coached out of him. Ridyard was poor and has gone backwards. Was it Duffy that came on the second half or a spectator? Wigan gave some young players valuable experience and Leigh could do a lot worse than take both Spencer AND Greenwood on dual contract. Tonight showed Leigh fans why they need to accept dual contracts and the partnership system.

Thought that the #8 Hopkins was a handy lad, would be very interesting to see what SW & Bitcon could do if they get their mitts on him.



I agree about Duffy, an absolute embarrasment, reminded me of the time Johnny Vegas came on the pitch that time wearing a Saints shirt.

I also believe Leeds won by one point in the playoffs. Hardly a 'battering' that's what your boys got tonight!

This is RL, the clubs with the cash have the best players in a FT culture, Wigan have a fantastic structure with a great conveyor belt, but maybe the don't deserve winkers like you?

Hoppy's a class act and is SL bound eventually , you'd do a lot worse than snap him up as a kind of reverse part of this " partnership " .

You know what I love about this kind of rant/fishing trip?



If a Wigan fan brings up the 80s and 90s they are living in the past, but somehow the winners of last years GF are apparently elevated above the rest of the world with some god like super powers in the current season.



If a reference to the CC is made the previous winners are the [icurrent holders[/i of the CC not the greatest cup playing team in the world whom nobody can touch.



And finally the previous League Winners are just the winners of last years league, no super powers from being the most constant league team the previous year and I'm fine with that as it's last year.



Looking at the the current season, nobody has won anything and the only real bragging rights are around how far your team has progressed in the CC and league position.

Better watch out of that many Leigh fans are in one place at the same time. Must be very hard to tell them apart especially with all the inbreeding that goes on there. Hills have eyes have nothing on Leigh.

My thoughts on Leigh last night.



Good sized following - would put at least half the Super League clubs to shame. Just a pity they don't do that for every match.



Very noisy. Pity most of it was foul-mouthed anti-Wigan profanity, which negates any good will it might have created. Do they not have any actual 'support Leigh' songs?



Their team was utterly woeful. Wigan took it easy on them, even earlier in the game when they were racking up the scores. There was very little vicious defence on show. It was like a training game, only less difficult than that if I'm honest. Wigan were barely trying in the second period.



Therefore - not a lot has changed in the relatives statuses of Wigan RL and Leigh RL. It's much as it always was.



At some point Leigh people, those who care about RL at least - which is plainly not many - ought to realise that defining themselves by a jealous hatred of Wigan is no way to progress, either in sport or life. But as that's now been going on for so long, I'm not holding my breath.
