To be honest and fair all teams do it, but people love the banter.



Wigan having the bigger fan base are just more noticeable

But they are also the victim of massive exaggerations.



For Sky's cameras to focus on one guy in a Wigan shirt standing outside the Millennium Stadium a couple of years ago, making a call on his mobile phone, and Eddie to proclaim that the Wigan fans were leaving early was pretty poor even by his standards.

If 5% of 25k walk compare that with 5% of 5.5k, what looks worse ?



Not so much massive exaggeration, just the most obvious to the naked eye.

Look closely at Man United matches, win lose or draw for the biggest walk.



With fifteen minutes to go, literally thousands get up and bugger off (to beat the traffic/to get back to the airport to go back to Ireland).



The worse one I saw was against Liverpool a few seasons ago, they got pumped (3 or 4 nil), were losing heavily at half time.



With 30 minutes to go, literally 30 thousand people walked out (including my mate).

With five to go there was around 20k on, with a good chunk of that Liverpool fans obviously.

It's not actually the cardinal sin that people claim it is. If you've turned up in the first place and paid for your ticket, then you've done your duty for your club. It's up to you when you go home.



As others have said repeatedly, it's actually a far bigger offence to never go in the first place, but still to claim that you're a fan. That's asking for the praise but not delivering the service.

Don't get it personally, why pay for a ticket and leave early not getting 'the monies worth' ?



I've seen Wire get battered and stayed till the end every time, the only time i've ever left early is when i was catching a plane and really couldn't afford to get stuck in traffic.
