| A little ironic really for opposing fans to set standards for Wigan fans ..... take Wire for example .... the Warrington directors realised that the club has a small fan base so built a ground with a small capacity.
For the sake of the wider game I just wish fans from some of these other clubs would do a Wigan Walk and actually pay to go into a stadium. The game would then be in a far healthier state .... instead we have two clubs recently in admin., a club in our capital city which rarely draws a crowd above 5,ooo and a derby match between Saints (GF finalists) and Wire (Challenge Cup holders) which just broke into a five figure crowd.

That depends how saints are doing IMO. They won't fill the North stand. Would have sold out last year if they had brought the 6k they brought in 2005.

| Personally, I think we're giving this Wigan Walk thing more credit than it deserves.
It was a myth invented in the correspondence pages of the RL press back in the 1980s, when jealous idiots - mainly in Yorkshire - sat in run-down stadia every week, surrounded by empty terraces, watching a set of useless, unfit pillocks tottering around on poorly maintained pitches (mind you, at least they had brass bands to entertain them at half time).
Every time they played Wigan, they were massacred. They also had to endure the taunts of a massive travelling army of cherry and white fans. They had absolutely nothing with which to oppose us, hence they made up LIES like the so-called 'Wigan Walk'. Unsurprisingly, given the equally parochial mentality of many of the game's administrators and those working in the press, the lie was taken up at semi-official level until it became a fully-fledged urban myth.
Wasn't it at Cardiff a few years ago, when the Sky commentators made great play of 'Wigan fans leaving early', when all their cameras had caught was ONE MAN in a cherry and white shirt, standing outside the stadium on his mobile phone? Pathetic.
I've seen fans charging out of grounds well before the final whistle, from Wilderspool to Thrum Hall to Headingley to Wheldon Road. I attended a match at St Helens in the mid/late 90s, when Wigan were so dominant that Saints fans were streaming out BEFORE half-time, and the Micron video of that game offered proof of this.
We shouldn't even give such nonsense the time of day.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was. Every time Wigan got the ball, they seemed to score.
I remember Eddie Hemmings commenting on what an awesome clash it was between Connolly and Matautia. Yeah ... right.

| Not sure how anybody could have walked off on Sunday. The lads deserved a full stadium applauding them for their efforts against a top top side. Saying that, st george deserved more credit for their part in what was a great game.

| My late grandmas brothers (Blans) played for Wigan in the 40's and 50's and she went to every game
to watch them play. she always left before the end and it was a standing joke with us for years because
quite often Wigan would be losing and she would get off home, and later that day find out that they had actually won.
