"League Express" claim today that Terry Matterson turned us down and that leaves Francis Cummins and James Lowes, personally I would not touch Lowes and Francis is still too raw?

How does that leave Francis Cummins and James Lowes. Have we learnt nothing from the Brian McDermott fiasco that has been the last one and a half seasons. |

Would be pleased with either Lowes of Cummins. Both have served excellent apprenticeships, and realistically, we are not a top SL side.

I don't think not being a top Super League side right now should be a barrier to getting a great head coach. Maybe I'm being too idealistic and not realistic enough, but I think the club needs to start making brave and ambitious decisions.

Clearly we would have aspirations of being a big city club in the Championship if we plump for Jimmy Lowes. Northerner with no outward signs of being a top coach, ring any bells. Cummins at least looks intelligent, or maybe permanently clinging onto a clipboard has made him seem half-way intelligent.
The future is not set, there is no fate but what we make for ourselves. We need a coach with a football brain! |

I was hoping for something a bit more inspring than either Lowes or Cummins. Lowes, in particular, being one of my least favorite players.

Then Lowes would be perfect.
It is unfortunate that McDermott has obviously put people off the idea of a player moving from playing into coaching. However this is not an issue for me, and it happens all the time.
I'm not sure why people think that being an assistant at an NRL side before moving to being a head coach in Super League is more acceptable than being an assistant at a Super League side and doing the same thing. Cummins and Lowes have extensive experience in the English game - yet people would prefer to recruit an Australian with no head coach experience either or knowledge of Super League? Curious. |

Who are better coaches? Maguire, Morgan and Brown....or Mcnamara, Mcdermott and Lowes? Id take the 3 Aussies any day over the 3 Brits. Sad, but true. There isnt enough strength in depth in our country to create top coaches who have had to really achieve and push to reach the top. |
