Are you allowed to have a sponsors name in your team name in Superleague? A Wire fan who is pretty well informed in RL matters tells me you are not under current rules. If true any sign of an attempt to change that rule would be of interest.

Totally correct there is a rule about team names not able to carry a sponsor's name and that is not a super league rule it is from the Advertising Standards Agency and covers all sports. The only time this does not apply 'I believe ' is if it is a works team where the majority of the team actually work and are paid for working by a company and not for their sporting activities.

If true, it sounds pretty amazing, although they have to be in it for the long long haul I guess, as we dont want to be changing our name again ! The marketing potential through such a household name is immense, and a few cans of the strong stuff before games hopefully will give the boys a bit more zip

The British BasketBall league includes Jelson Homes DM (based in Leicester), UCP Marjon Plymouth and One Health Sharks (based in Sheffield.)



I think it comes down to rules at individual sport level rather than generically.

Totaly correct you have a valid point, - on the subject of names and sponsors it is more likely to be the London Ovalteenies the way we are playing - the defence yesterday was really poor.
