I too thought Beswick was outstanding. Did 80 minutes if I'm not mistaken. Led the line speed all night and was intense throughout.
Kicking game won the game in the first half, it turned Batley round almost every set. I thought Batley let themselves open on Gardner/Pownall's side thoughout the game but Ridyard/Brierley/McNally didn't have a go at it.

I notice the final is on a Saturday afternoon this year !
Should be one heck of a day out and whilst its a pity its Halifax rather than Blackpool it should still be a occasion for the supporters.
A early chance for the BOD / BOM to show they can market our club and sell it to the towns around Leigh and the local communities by ensuring we take the biggest amount of fans to the NRC than any of the other Championship Cup finals we've played in.
Looking forward to it.

5pm kick off apparently, with the 'Bowl' final at 2.30, though I've no idea on the participants in that one.
Already seen a few have booked hotels in Halifax(!) for the Friday night. An ale trail on the train for me I reckon.

Not that I dont believe you, but do you have a link to something which says its a 5pm KO, should be able to leave work an hour or two early if its 5pm. |
