His mistakes are too numerous for anyone highlighting them to be referred to as a pedant.

My only concern is that Silverwood will let Wigan lye on at the ruck. And it will be a long time before he penalises them for it.

That's where home advantage should play it's part. Richard Silverwood is not corrupt or bent (in that sense). He is however a simpleton. Getting on his back early and often might help get some early penalties.

Referees allow a team longer in the tackle if they win the collision. If the ball carrier knocks the tacklers about and is then slowed down at the play the ball, thats when penalties come. I was reading updates on the Hudds game t'other week, people were complaining about how long we were able to hold in the tackle, then in the next breath saying how dominant we were and how many big hits we were putting in. They go hand in hand. We hit hard and gain time in the tackle that way. Wigan tackle in numbers and swarm around the ball carrier, both are effective and legal. I'm nervous because of our lack of size, if we cant get on top in the tackle, we will struggle.

It's easy to confuse referees. I stand relatively close to the touchline so they can definitely hear me. It's helpful to say odd things:-



'I'm watching you Silverwood. I'm watching!'

'Did you leave the iron on Silverwood? Think. Did you!?'

'Tomkins thinks your a fraud Silverood. Are you going to let him get away with it'

I like that, for me, it's time to up it now. I think i'm going to go back to the old school where he's concerned, just keep it at something like :-



"Silverwood, you smoke bone."



And leave it at that.

I remember someone shouting at Bell Vue once:-



"No 12. Snitch. You sir, are a homosexual".



The bloke who shouted it was a bit 'different' so it was unintentionally hilarious.
