| Quote ninearches="ninearches"I haven't got sky sports so was it possible to hear any ref's remarks when he had Briers & Sinfield together following the incident ? Was there any mention of provocation by Ablett & i don't think it was even put on report was it ?'"
You can hear Childs on the ref mic when he's talking to the touch judges about the incident. He says something like 'there was no contact?' asking them ( I presume ) if they agreed with him that Briers's attempted punch had not landed. The touchies did not demur so he must have ruled 'no contact', the same thing that gets many a player off a 'swinging arm' offence.

| Quote BrianBradyHandOff="BrianBradyHandOff"Surely it isn't beyond the techies that, via the red button, we could just hear the noise of the spectators ? I've, for a long time now watched games on Sky with the sound muted. Total silence is preferable to the inane ramblings of the *expert* commentators.'"

| Quote Fatbelly="Fatbelly"I didn't see it put on report and I was looking. But our website does say it was.
Here is the extract from the website:
'Briers then took exception to a tackle by Carl Ablett who appeared to bring him down by his shirt and a melee ensued; referee James Child put the incident on report''"
Did he though? I didn't see the crossed arm signal.

| The annoying thing about Stevo yesterday was his consistancy in his ramblings about forward passes..!
The first Leeds try had a blantant forward pass leading up to it (not mentioned by Stevo)...Then the second Leeds try had two highly questionable passes in that piece of play (Stevo mentioned one of them)...
As for the Briers moment of madness i would love to know what Ablett said to Briers to make him react like that only the second time in his career ive seen it the other against Jason Hooper who stuck the forearm in his face after he'd kicked..

If the shoulder charge was introduced back then, Jason Hooper would have broken the record for the most number of sinbinnings/penalties conceded in a season. It's quite ironic that he retired because of a shoulder injury considering he always used to use it to hit kickers late.

| don't think it was put on report but there was mention of it being picked up by the disciplinary anyway, what is it with Ablett that makes relatively placid players want to plant one on him? i reckon he must come from the same snide school of sh*thouse tactics as Bailey, although i have heard that off the pitch Bailey is quite a likable bloke.

I would have thought it might be because 95% of the time he is always offside at the play the ball, but the most obvious answer is because he's a s***house.

| Latest Sky commentators update.
When he got home, he went straight to his shed. He got out all those "Briers for Britain" badges he had made in the mid 2000's, marker penned out Britain, and wrote Borstal
Eddie awoke at 3:30 in a hot sweat, shouting "I'll 'ave you Briers" in a Blakey from On The Buses stylee.
He's just been seen in Morrison's. An old lady was struggling to get a tin of cat food from the top shelf. Eddie helped the old dear in her hour of need. As he passed her the tin of meaty chunks, he said "that Briers is a bad lot, isn't he love".
He's just booked Easyjet to Rome. There's some Argentinian bloke called Pope, he wants to vent his spleen to.
Stephenson shouted "I hate Warrington" whilst still picking us for the league. He walked off singing "Yarkshire, Yarkshire, Yarkshire, Yarkshire"
Wells has kicked every cat in the street.
Concern is growing for Clarke. He's not returning any of the Samaritan's calls. He's not eaten since he came home last night, even though his mum's cooked him his favourite tea (meat'n'tattie with eggy bread). He's just sat in his bedroom, listening to Leonard Cohen albums, and painted his walls black. Only Wigan sides from the 80's/90's are supposed to get favourable calls from referees.
Shaun McRea is just laughing at them, whilst wiping off meat juices of his jowls.

| Quote Dropkick Murphy="Dropkick Murphy"In my experience, every paranoid fan of every club in every sport is convinced the media hate their team and love their biggest rivals. It's not true so get over yourselves.
I don't have Sky and although I stream the odd match online I don't pay attention to what any of them have to say. It's not really very important.'"
I don't think they consciously have a vendetta against Wire, but they have to talk up every single game in such a way that it easily comes down to "big team vs plucky underdogs" and because they're all stuck in the 1990's, Wire won't get the plaudits of some of the older clubs.
A friend of mine who's a ref in the other code, actually wrote to Sky because he was sick of their complaining about the ref. He invited their union commentating team and the BBC commentary lot to come and take the ref's course so that they would be better able to appreciate what was happening on the pitch and give more accurate analysis. Brian Moore did it, Sky sent back a letter which amounted to "it's not the role of commentary to be accurate, they're there as entertainment". Apparently Stevo's in the same role, but who he's entertaining I don't know. It's sad really because you hear him off Sky and he knows a lot about the game and is very balanced in what he says. Unlike Eddeh, who wouldn't know what a rugby ball was if he sat down on the pointy end.

| No one has a vendetta against anyone, Clarke is obviously loved up with Wigan but he's always been quite positive with us.
People need to start growing up, yes they say things that are annoying but it's certainly not a vendetta.
Can we all just look at this in an adult way.

I am what is classed as a very mature female supporter of Warrington Wolves & although very placid, for some reason Carl Ablett makes me want to punch him in the face every time I see him.

| I don't think there's any particular vendetta against any particular teams. I just get the feeling the Sky commentators "gush" over popular teams that are currently successful e.g. the Bullmania era, Stains/Leeds domination and Wigan, well, for just being Wigan.
When we were average, but capable of turning anybody over on our day, the Sky team gave us praise, but when we played crap, they didn't half stick the knife in.
I've always said Clarke does give us praise (a little too much, at times), but when we "get away" with something, boy, does he let his feelings known.
The only thing that's hacked me off about yesterday, is the Briers incident.
If Hemmings mentioned that once, he mentioned it a thousand times.
Now, for those of us of a certain vintage, cast your minds back to a certain Bill Maclaren. He had to commentate on some of the DREARIEST sport ever shown on a TV screen. Had that incident happened on a Rah-Rah pitch, old Bill would have simply said "Oooooh, a little bit of argy-bargy there, but let's go back to that wonderful dummy-scissors movement between Woodward and Slemen there", and no more would have been mentioned about it. Hemmings and co want public floggings.
The thing that scares me, is come Tuesday, when the disciplinary panel meet, all the fuss Sky made over the incident may force the RFL into action. We all know they (the RFL) are a law unto themselves. I'm expecting sine-die for Briers, and a 20 year stay on Devil's Island, a la Steve McQueen in Papillion.
