I would have put Tommy Gittins at ten but he was your average reserve player that was occasionally called up to cover injuries but the rest were all Real "first teamers"



its stunning that we only won the premiership with that squad.....

I think the increased fitness of the players these days has led to a perceived 'diminishing' in the overall spectacle.



I've watched RL for 35+ years and 'back in the day' I saw a lot of solo tries and alleged 'moments of genius' that were performed against players who were knackered!..especially in the 2nd half of matches

And of course the much bigger number of interchanges leaves less room/time for flair players to be able to weave their magic.

had sky been going in 86 would we be classed as champs after thrashing halifax at elland road...the 80s was a time when i loved going up and down the 62 corridor to watch great players like the 2 gregs boyd blake dessie roberts johnno and many more it was a real privelage to watch them and then out on the lash on a sunday night....

after the thrashing of halifax in the 86 final it was back to warrington.loads of beer around the town then off to the touchdown club where all the players were rightly merry celebrating the dis-mantling of the champions..we then proceed to drink out of a trophy(god knows which or whose it was)full of every short known to man..what a night..god knows what time i crawled in but was ill in work the next day but boy was it worth it...one of the best days nights of my life
