In some ways it's a bit like our signing of Brian Carney.



i.e. great if you can get some game time from him, but even more is the the benefit that he will provide behind the scenes in off field development from both a rugby and promotional/corporate opportunities.



A good move around in my opinion.



Let's just hope that it's not ruined by a small faction of troublemakers/homophobes that seem to now be permeating the fan base of some RL clubs (albeit not by any means unique to our sport).

Welsh club sign a very prominent 35 year old former Welsh RU international. Publicity stunt in an attempt to get more bums on seats and, maybe more importantly, make the Crusaders a more attractive proposition to younger top level Welsh kick and chasers.

It's a publicity stunt but a good one.



If it raises the game in Wales it's worthwhile.

I've no doubt that at 25 he'd do well but 35?

Next it could be 'bring back Allan Bateman'? (a superb player but now in his 40's)

He was alright at picking it up after he'd dropped it. Then again he did get plenty of practice.

again crusaders fans think he will do brilliantly others not so. i think he might struggle as the pace of the game is alot quicker but it a good move to promote rugby league

It's a win-win for the game of RL.



If he fails, he's a RU legend who can't hack it in RL.

If he succeeds - and I hope he does - he'll be a massive draw for the Crusaders and a real Welsh icon for the fans to latch onto.



Anything that gets people talking about RL is a great thing.

There is no reason why Alfie Thomas should fail.



The 2 games aren't as different as all the 'flatcappers' would have you believe.
