it was an attempt to kick the ball, he missed and caught Chase instead. It should have been a penalty.
If you want to be pedantic Chase didn't drop the ball for the drop out correctly anyway. I'm not sure of the rules on that, whether it should have been taken again or a penalty to Wigan, either way it renders the SOL incident irrelevant.

So it's ok to go sliding in, feet first, taking a man out who didn't have possession? It was the turning point all right, cos Wigan scored a try on the next set and then again straight after. Game over at that point. Yes, Sau should have passed but he thought he could make the try line. I have no problem with a player who backs himself to score.
Salford were dreadful after that tripping incident. Not saying they would have won, but the straight red which it should have been would have helped a little.

| god this board is starting to remind of warrington after they started spending big.
Seriously it was a 50-50 ball and o'loughlin didn't take chase out with his feet but he did clatter him, but maybe we should go back to chase not drop kicking the ball but grubbing it anyway as it would have been a wigan penalty under the post.
The damage was done in the 1st half when you tried to out muscle Wigan

That's one way of looking at it...
As it stands, I doubt it would have made much difference, Wigan could easily have beaten us with 12 men last night. But that was an unbelievable challenge.

| I think we've just got to move on to the next game...
This incident is irrelevant, the outcome would've remained the same - we were pants, made incorrect decisions throughout.
Perhaps the 4 grand finals that we've played recently had finally taken their toll, let's face it, the team left every last ounce of energy on the pitch against Leeds and it's something they need to learn how to mentally adjust to in coming seasons before we can realistically become a force

| I thought that the point of this FORUM,was to discuss all things Salford Red Devils.
I get really fed up with people who try and dismiss other peoples opinions,by making the above comments.
If the consensus want to discuss their feelings regarding a topic, please allow them to do so,without arbitrarily dismissing them.

| Regardless of who the opposition was, or what stage the game was at that was a penalty at least and even a sin binning. It’s difficult to call whether it would have changed the game last night, but at the time wasn’t it 6-0 to Wigan with around 10 minutes to go until half time?
That said, we were awful. Probably our worst showing under Harris thus far. I dread to think how many times we knocked on, lost the ball or gave away needless penalties. What was Junior doing when he broke free? A simple inside ball and it’s all square.
Truly awful from the players.

If that was aimed at me, then you've taken my post out of context, as I never said we shouldn't be discussing it.
My point is that the play in itself was irrelevant to the outcome of the game due to our tired performance - by all means, have the discussion as to whether RFL will do anything.
Personally, although disappointed by the performance, it's not all doom and that's why move onto the next game

| Yes,it was aimed at your comments.
To discuss one point you made, individual incidents do and have contributed to the outcome of games. That is why people watch and enjoy sport.
Ask Don Fox,about one incident that affected a game he played in
There is no way of knowing what may have happened last night, ifa decision to shift O' Loughlin had been made.
As it stands now,I don't care if The RFL do anything against the player, because that could not have any bearing on the result.

Or if the preceding drop out had been penalised. You can't look at one incident in isolation and not the other if you're discussing 'what might have been' were it not for incorrect decisions. If the rules had been correctly adhered to the O'Loughlin incident would have been irrelevant as the play would have had to come back to the original infringement and would have been a penalty to Wigan. As it goes, neither incident turned out to have any bearing on the game.
