| the turning point tonight was that sliding tackle from the in goal tap out, at that point Wigan should have been down to 12 men, will the RL do anything or go with the rule it's OK if its with Saford

| The "turning point" (if you can call it that so early in the game) was Sa'u having a 3 on 1 and choosing to be a greedy *** instead of levelling the scores.
The SOL event was a penalty and not much more (as much as I'd like it to be as a saints fan) - or are we going to cling onto conspiracies instead of facing up to realities?

| Not saying we'd have avoided a drubbing but that two footed sliding tackle from the short goal line drop out came at a crucial time.
Do the RFL look at that sort of thing ?

| If Lockers had gone to the bin for 10 mins can anyone say for certain that Salford would actually have completed a set in that time let alone score a try.
Wigan got a decision but Sau blew a try to level up.
Salford were very good v Leeds, tonight they were very poor against a team with a four day turnaround.

it was an attempt to kick the ball, he missed and caught Chase instead. It should have been a penalty.
If you want to be pedantic Chase didn't drop the ball for the drop out correctly anyway. I'm not sure of the rules on that, whether it should have been taken again or a penalty to Wigan, either way it renders the SOL incident irrelevant.

So it's ok to go sliding in, feet first, taking a man out who didn't have possession? It was the turning point all right, cos Wigan scored a try on the next set and then again straight after. Game over at that point. Yes, Sau should have passed but he thought he could make the try line. I have no problem with a player who backs himself to score.
Salford were dreadful after that tripping incident. Not saying they would have won, but the straight red which it should have been would have helped a little.

| god this board is starting to remind of warrington after they started spending big.
Seriously it was a 50-50 ball and o'loughlin didn't take chase out with his feet but he did clatter him, but maybe we should go back to chase not drop kicking the ball but grubbing it anyway as it would have been a wigan penalty under the post.
The damage was done in the 1st half when you tried to out muscle Wigan

That's one way of looking at it...
As it stands, I doubt it would have made much difference, Wigan could easily have beaten us with 12 men last night. But that was an unbelievable challenge.

| I think we've just got to move on to the next game...
This incident is irrelevant, the outcome would've remained the same - we were pants, made incorrect decisions throughout.
Perhaps the 4 grand finals that we've played recently had finally taken their toll, let's face it, the team left every last ounce of energy on the pitch against Leeds and it's something they need to learn how to mentally adjust to in coming seasons before we can realistically become a force
