I see this as fundamentaly wrong in a sporting competition
So you see no actual positive future for these clubs , clubs like mine , and you wonder why I seem a little ' tetchy ' about it ?
In what way does SKY keep clubs like mine ' alive ' ? |

Toulouse RU IS massive,much bigger than RL in the city itself but the RL potential in the general area is there,The RL team have had the misfortune to have had direct competition from a successful RU team (Euro champs) this past season with many of their home fixtures coinciding date wise with the RU league & cup games.The RL team could quite easily manage an average 2000 - 3000 crowd in the Championship games with proper organisation and a more progressive team - the president has realised his team will not be in SL for at least four seasons which will allow the new stadium to be built ready for SL where crowds will equal or better most of the present SL outfits.TO13 will start to build up to SL admission in 2012/13 seasons,=#FF0000until then the club will stagnate and save the investments for later.
I have spoken to several Championship chairmen at TO this season,the last one being Mr Steele from Fax and he and the others have all said the same thing ' if only we had this potential at OUR club ! everything is here' etc etc - they are very envious.'"
Is that good for the Championship , to have a club just paying ' lip service ' when it can do so much better ? |

thanks for ALL your comments - with great respect, believe it or not,I do actually agree with many of your points and I would be 'tetchy' also but I am a passionate fan,like yourself obviously.I have no idea which team you actually support tho' I assume it's a Championship side ?
do you honestly believe £250,000,your quoted figure will save the M62 corridor game ? if the majority of fans don't want the french involved then kick up enough stink,vote with your feet and get them kicked out,distribute the dosh between the tens of clubs up north and find another scapegoat when you realise the couple of grand you will have received hasn't made much of a difference to your club.
SKY and IMO the Beeb especially can promote the game just as it trid to in the 70s & 80s but we have to face the facts that at the end of the day RL IS a minority sport and always will be - all people like us can do is support our respective clubs (for me Doncaster ,albeit long-distance with financial support) to keep them in existence and hope that the ruling parties of our clubs run them as efficiently as possible. |
