| Quote bowes="bowes"It's equally as much in Lancashire as anywhere like Wigan is. It's in Lancashire in proper counties, but Cumbria in administrative counties. Hard to see anyone attached to administrative counties as they change all the time, just this year Cheshire got abolished officially and most major towns are stand alone not in any county'"
That depends if you have ever played Rugby League for that admistrative county, as a Barrow lad you get selected for Cumbria, not Lancashire.

Barrow is unique within Cumbria and the local dialect tends to be more Lancashire oriented.'"
That depends on where in Barrow/South Cumbria you are.

Well that is just sick. Whatever happened to the traditional Rugby League county side of Cumberland and why, if they made a team out of a ised hybrid then why not split Lancashire up into Merseyside, Cheshire and Greater Manchester and split Yorkshire up into West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Humberside?
Barrow lads were traditionally picked for thier true County, Lancashire.

Having been born in Barrow post '74 I would have chosen Cumbria over Lancashire, (had I been presented with such an embarresment of riches as a choice!) as a Barrow lad, Barrow to me is in Cumbria and I am Cumbrian.

Yeah I put that UCCF (an evangelical Christian group my old housemates were part of) was a cult and got banned once. Having said that the weirdest one was when someone changed our students' union's page to a picture of Squidward from spongebob squarepants, never quite got why

Barrow Chairman Des Johnston is talking about taking 6-7000 fans to the final in the local paper here:
www.nwemail.co.uk/raiders/news/b ... rPath=home
As the capacity of Bloomfield road is 9000 odd and Widnes are likely to get more tickets than Barrow, I fear he may be disappointed.
Either way, I don't think there'll be much call for supporters from haven or workington or other parts of "Cumbria" to turn up for the main event, although some of them might like to watch their reserve teams playing nines?
