| Quote those were the days="those were the days"We need to hold the group games as close to each other as possible for example
Group 1 DW and saints
Group 2 kc n craven park (if its in better state than today)
Group 3 Cas (if they have got a new ground)and doncaster
Group 4 wire and salford
Iv used grounds we should reallistcally sell out not too big just the right size IMHO
Semi-final double header at elland rd
Final city of manchester stadium/Old trafford
I havnt been biased there by staging more games in lancashire hence thats why elland rd got a double header.'"
give the bloke a job. Although id scrap CP in favour of headingley

| I think as long as common sense is used when they decide where and when the fixtures are and promote and price properly, it will be a massive success.

And that's without mentioning 30,000 seeing the England-Wales semi final and 16,000 for the Aus-NZ semi final. Oh, and the Welsh selling out their group games. In fact, let's just do a carbon copy of that tournament!!

| 95 was a good year though. England were competitive with Australia and Wales were competitive with everyone as well with the likes of Davies, Quinell and Gibbs in their side.
Now England cannot beat Australia and Wales couldn't get within 50 realistically of England.

| Another (undermentioned) factor, was the lack (infact ban) of Super League Australia Players in Aussieland, which dimminished a lot of their resources, that made the games more competitive.

| If we assume they will go down the 'super group' format, the keys to success are:
- have the Aussies based in London for the group stage
- Eng -v- Aus for the opener at the London Olympic stadium
- - England play other group games in Hull and Wigan
- have Wales based in Wrexham (assuming that Crusaders are still based there)
- Scotland and Ireland to host their own home games
- rest of the games in and around the heartlands. From Hull down to Sheffield in the east, and Cumbria down to Manchester in the West. Couple of games in each major town, rather than flooding 1 specific area with loads of games.
- Both semi finals in the North
- Final at Wembley
- Reasonable ticket prices - deals for multiple games etc..
That will allow the Aussie fans to build some momentum for the event in London. A big opener should see the competition kick off with a bang - even if England get beaten it can be a big event.

The wider public cared more about RL than they do now.
The world cup in 2000 was a farce and will be in 2013.
NZ win the world cup in 2008. Great stuff. Surely on the back of that, with help from Australia they could have put on a world cup in 2013?
The world cup in england will be a complete disaster.

I’m genuinely curious so please be honest – is that what you are predicting or what you are hoping for?

| Nobody was interested in 1995 when Fiji played South Africa at Cougar park.
The fact that people were still queuing well after kick off proved no one was interested.

Or are you saying that we should have 1 group playing in Hull and Leeds (How far apart?) and then another playing in Cas and Doncaster (Isn't both Cas and Doncaster a hell of a lot nearer to Leeds than Hull?)?
