I'll happily admit to being a Cullen basher, but he's been a revelation for us and really stamped his mark on the team. Black and White through and through is our Cull

| Well by the looks of things I'm in a minority but I think Cullen is one of the best thing to happen to Sky's rugby coverage - following on from Rae.
He's eloquent yet has a northern accent (Yorkshire would be better but what the heck)
He knows his rugby, he is pointing things out that Eddie and Stevo have never heard of, and he is introducing a vocabulary that fans haven't heard before. It isn't wrong it is the language used in coaching.
eg. Arm wrestle. The game is now like an arm wrestle. There can be an apparent defensive stalemate for a long stretch in the game and then suddenly one team will cave. It's pretty obvious and a good description to teach players about the game.
Pendulum - good description to explain how the wings cover full back and need to follow each other in the process. Half backs and centres have the same process in the middle.
These are modern day coaching techniques to break the game down into component parts so that individual players can concentrate on their jobs without worrying about the stuff that doesn't concern them.
It isn't just pass, run and tackle any more.
Of course some of the Aussie-isms are not necessary and can be irritating but recognising that the basics (which we always say the aussies do so well) are actually quite complex unless you break it down, is why the southern hemisphere moved forward and left us behind.
To be honest, Cullen is giving a modern day lesson on modern day rugby and scoffing at the back because you don't understand isn't really a criticism of Cullen is it. Go and play on the swings and let the intelligent kids listen!
Few! Didn't know I felt so strong about it!

The thumbwrestling was great but the downtowns were poor and we had too many turtle tackles.

Couldnt agree more with that post. I find some of the expressions he uses funny, but only funny because intelligence is often the exception rather than the rule in our game and it is funny to see Stevo made to look like an amateur player when he uses the language of modern rugby league, and funny because you know the people who are laughing at him have precisely a thousandth of the knowledge of the game of RL that Paul Cullen has.
Cullen is doing a fine job at revitalising my club after the 'dark days' of McCormack's 1-man rugby. He is also a refreshing break from the Harrisons, Peacocks etc of the world who can barely get a sentence out....
