| Before we all spout off about whether AG is right or wrong to drag ground sharing at NM back up and before Cas fans get all indignant and tell him to shove it we should take a look at the background to which these comments have been made.
Richard Wright has confirmed that Castleford DO NOT have the money to build a stadium and won't have the money for the foreseeable future.
Ben Bailey Homes had paid an options fee, somewhere in the region of £200K, to reserve the Wheldon Rd ground but now seem happy to allow that option to expire and will not be paying Castleford RLFC any more money. That means the overinflated price of £6Million (?) that Cas thought they were getting is never going to happen!
Richard Wright alluded to the idea of waiting until the economy picks up before selling Castleford RLFCs family silver as they will only get to sell it once and they won't be backed into selling it cheap just to move forward on the GH project. The economy and therefore the building industry and in particular the house building sector of that industry will not see a significant upturn for the next 2 to 3 years at best with economists now voicing real fears over Britain’s likelihood of suffering a double dip recession which would put that recovery even further away.
So where does that leave Castleford’s GH project in terms of financing?
Even if the wildly optimistic approximations of cost were correct and the stadium price is just £11Million, where are Castleford going to find that money now Wheldon Rds. sale is iced and where were they going to find the other £5Million?
Looking at similar stadium builds and their construction costs Castleford GH stadium price is more likely to check out at around £15 to £17 Million.
There seems to be some forlorn hope that Feisal Nahaboo will rescue and fund their build but he’s a sponsor and the jury is out, Michael Knighton style, on how credible he is in the long term. He’s also had his head turned by his WCC experience and is now forging links with Wigan and despite his “I’m a Cas fan” statement he’ll soon realise that the DW and Wigan have more to offer Probiz than Castleford and Wheldon Rd.

| Quote Odemwingie="Odemwingie"To be honest I can see this move being a bit of a fail for Sale anyway but I'm not bothered. They would be moving a long way from their current home and their attendances are pretty poor anyway. If Salford could build attendances like other Rugby team have been able to do since moving to new stadiums then Rugby League could kill off any hopes RU has of being a big sport in Manchester.
Salford get 6-7 sometimes even 8k for the big games. In a new stadium this could be pushed over 10k especially with the better away support they would get from Wigan, Saints and Wire.
This is the perfect location for a new stadium as well. Right near the motorway and near the trafford centre! Great place for a day out. It will pay off for Salford big time. '"
As a Salford fan, I disagree, maybe it's a perfect location for away fans with as you say it being next to the motorway. However I have reserved judgement, the location as it is, isn't really in the heart of Salford and not surrounded by houses, which in the case of The Willows I feel we get a lot of walk up fans due to the stadium being where its situtated. Although some may argue the area puts of fans both home and away. Also I don't think the transport links are that great reguards people coming from Salford, unless you live in Eccles or Irlam, as it stands there are no tram lines which would make a huge difference. I don't see how people from the Broughton, Kersal, Agecroft, Ordsall areas are going to have easy access to stadium if they don't drive, there best bet is getting a bus to Trafford and walking over. If your talking a perfect location, for me it would of been would have around Salford Quays but that a whole other conversation! Wouldn't say I'm pessimistic just call it years or supporting Salford

You are certainly right about it no being in the middle of loads of houses but I'm sure the fact millions of people will drive past it every week will make up for this. Salford quays would have been a great location but I'm sure all other options were looked at and this is the one that works best. We are not the ones who did the research, you just have to trust the people who did. The stadium in the location where it is being built full puts Salford on the map and I think crowds will surge easily to an average of 8-9k.
With reference to the transport situation, I am pretty sure they will sort some buses out. They would be stupid not to.

Quote Odemwingie="Odemwingie"Lovely attempt at twisting the meaning but you know I am not trying to pretend has actually listened to me etc..
news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_l ... 427846.stm
Even Salford now are considering a groudshare with Sale. This is not fluke, it makes sense from a business point of view.
I hope it comes off personally, it will bring in extra money for Salford.'"
It isn't Salfords ground , it is a similar situation to Leigh at the LSV , the SMC will let whoever they want to let play there , Salford will have no say in the matter and receive no monies from it

Apart from the KC , this ground move is by far the biggest , with nothing to attract fans pre match around the area , Salford will have to work very hard to make this work

I only realised this after I made the post. It could still bring in extra money though if tickets were sold to Sale fans.

I see what you are saying but isn't it alot easier to sell to those fans if they can sell from the same ticket office, announce the games on Sale matchdays, have posters around the stadium for Sale fans to see.....

The KC is a 5-10 minute walk from the Boulevard. Tops.

I always fancied going to the Boulevard before it closed.
Have they demolished it yet?
