It's what happens with stadiums dedicated to a summer sport who don't feel the need to invest in undersoil heating, because they're playing a summer sport …

I think I'd prefer it played on Durhams A**** still.

The weather must be really bad over that side of the pennines. I remember playing on solid pitches at Hill Top in Cottingham where the only soggy patch was at one corner!



Being serious though, for a pre-season game a hard pitch is the last thing a rusty, un-match-fit body needs playing the toughest game in the world.

It is minus 3 and covers take upto minus 2, so why a club spend on underground heating in a summer sport?

Maybe Saints and Hudds do not like the cold.

Season in the Championship starts in March, but i am sure if we get a licence we will invest for the Hudds fans.

The height of the stands at Widnes means that at this time of year, one touchline never gets any sun and can be frozen even when the rest of the pitch is fine. I do think Leigh made a sensible choice when they put undersoil heating in.

No fault at all should be directed at the Widnes club...The stadium is owned & run by Halton Borough Council NOT Widnes Vikings RLFC.
