it makes no sense having forwards in the centres and playing sykes on the wing. sykes is a centre and has barely played there, if he is going to put him in the squad atm, allow him to play in the centre. if not, play a winger on the wing

It does make sense if Potter is trying to keep it as close as possible to the Wigan team but prefers Sykes experience to Crookes youth.
