hes played 2nd row quite often, loose very rarely, but yes I agree with the proposition, when we wanted to muscle up, start with eg Hargreaves Diskin Koppy MM Elima Langley with interchanges Scruton Burgess L'Estrange plus a SR/LF from Whitehead Olbison Sibbit Addy Donaldson Bateman Murphy and any other options we may sign.

Thats 4 forwards on the bench. OK Addy can play half back (well sort of)

What about using Sammut if Gale and Briggs start?

thats how Potter likes it anyway, but 2nd row should be able to play centre eg whitehead and Heath SH. But its an option for particular circumstances, such as the Hull pack, not every game. Looking at the games this season gone we could have had 6 or more league points by scoring - or not conceding - up to 6 points in four or five of the games, so some games may well be just a slog, but tight to win by one point. Other games Sammut makes a good choice instead of eg Burgess. If MM can provide quick play the ball that would suit Sammuts style.

But that's the whole point of having a squad with depth though isn't it? It allows you to adjust the team and tactics for a particular game. I just hope we have better luck with injuries this year so the theory can be put into practice.

And Potter has decided not just to put his trust in a supreme being/lady luck, the incoming players provide more flexibility and therefore more and better cover in the event of injuries. may be not quite as good as the first choice player, but still experienced and capable in the alternative position. Well, as you say, thats the theory!

Judging from the Highlights package on that famous video site (just about the worst highlights package I've ever seen), I'm afraid you can only live in hope because all it shows is a load of barging, making two or three metres and sometimes flinging the ball behind him to someone else who gets nailed. Hetherington edited it I reckon.

Aye, it's not filled me with anticipation either. I hope he proves doubters like me wrong but I got sewious weservations.
