| Well pleased for him, through good & bad always gives his best and has worked hard over the past 12 months to win this contract ~ best of luck to him on his return.

| Quote Bulls4Champs2010="Bulls4Champs2010"Well done Platt, goes to show that criticising helps players improve.'"
How do you reach that conclusion?
Its like saying complaining about it being cold and dark in winter goes to show that complaining helps the weather improve so we get summer.
You could just as easily say "goes to show that some players have got what it takes to ignore the criticism and just concentrate on their own game".

Look at Platt for an example. Copped a load of criticism, knew he needed to be better, got on with it and turned it around.
You could easily say whatever you like. Im not of the opinion that unquestionable faith, support and loyalty make everything ok though

| Still does not necessarily follow that he improved because of the criticism rather than in spite of it?
Any more than you could argue that the total asshole that was "Punisher" improved into the mildly stroppy maverick we know today because of the criticism...?

| I think in fairness, it depends on the person. I suspect some players will react better to being criticised for being crap, and book their ideas up to prove them wrong. Whereas others will be better off with a supporting arm around the shoulder. Some will ignore fans' opinion entirely.
Depends on the attitude and the personality of the player in question I would think, but all methods will have people they work on and people they don't.

Well I think he did improve because of the criticism It's not nice having it levelled at you and most want to improve as a result of it, which I believe Platt did and did very well.

Think the move to centre also helped him, proably moreso than being berated by fans.

| I can kind of see where B4C2010 is coming from. It must be immensly satisfying for Platt right now to be sat there with a new contract, in excellent form, and with fans very much behind him and praising him, knowing that a couple of years ago he was Public Enemy No.1 on the terraces. What better way to give a big two fingers up to those who rang out the boos?
While I don't necessarily agree with people booing our players (hell, I never even directed any at the ultimate sh*tehouse of Worrincy), but I can definitely see how some players will use it as a motivating factor to prove those people wrong.
And I can think of no better examples in recent times than Mr. Platt and Mr. Vainikolo (who if you remember, copped all sorts of stick in his first season with us).

| Great news for both Platty and the club. He's been one if our best performers before his op. Keep Ainscough and we have a great partnership forming there

So if we constantly point out the idiocy of your posting, you'll get better will you?
A slightly slower path to redemption that Mr Platt, I think.

| From everything I've heard from players, they benefit from fan support rather than fan criticism, even justified criticism. After all, it's nothing they won't hear from their coaches.
Who you going to bust a gut for, the fans who are behind you no matter what, or the ones who sit back like roman emperors, waiting to be entertained and demanding execution of those who don't immediately please them?
