| I get the impression that we will see a number of players (and Worrincy...) moving on. Shall I say I'm pretty sure the club are well aware of the weakness in the areas that most of the fans (ignoring the odd obsessed muppet) can so clearly see, and know at least as well as we do that some of the guys are either not up to the job or are not up to the effort required.
The point about playing like a bunch of lost sheep - don't forget that, continuing the analogy, you marshal and run sheep with a pair of sheepdogs...and we are a bit light in that department to put it mildly!

| Surprised to hear that there might be quite an overhaul of playing staff. I expected no more than 3-4 new signings, mainly due to the fact that we wouldn't have much space on the quota. Wonder perhaps if we will have some scope to recruit from overseas now?
I think most fans would like to kick off next years recruitment with Langley re-signing. I just hope we haven't been outbid for his services.

| The author of this thread either knows nothing about rugby league or has not been to a game this season. Platt is probably one of the best centres in super league this season!

| Not sure about "quite an overhaul"? Did get the vibes though that the club appreciate areas we are weak in, and that steps will be taken to try and address those areas - as you would hope. Nothing specific, nor would you expect anything until it happens, so I'd not read anything into it other than to take comfort that the club does see what the fans see - and are certainly not burying heads in sand like some would seem to want to believe. I'd expect this to be a message they seek to get out at the forum
I for one hope that we sign another halfback, and I guess you'd have to assume some upgrading of some of the younger players' contracts which would limit a bit the scope for new signings? I'm sure most of us are expecting/hoping a number of contracts not to be renewed, but you'd assume the players would be told first!

| Whoever we bring in we need some leaders. This team is weak on leadership and oh, a goal kicker too.
Worrincy, Scully would be gone for mine.

| I've lost patience with Worrincy. Nero looks to me like a man who knows he wont be here next season , although I have no info one way or the other. Reardon has disappointed me - I had him down as a very astute signing, but for whatever reason I've been proved wrong there so far. Rikki I like but I'm afraid would swap him in a better candidate appeared. Halley tries and can be quite good, but you keep thinking he's not big enough ad he has a few 'mares too.
Platt I want to keep - has been our best 3/4 this year and puts in a lot of effort. That pass between his legs last week, and stretching out for his try today, those sort of things make a difference IMO. Sykes keep for all round utility and home-grown value.
I've not written Scully off. Whether he gets a chance to play again, let alone show what he can do, is very much in the lap of the Gods I guess.
Koppy has improved with more game time. I'd keep him if practicable.

I'd agree with pretty much all that, apart from that if I was in charge, I would offload Sculthorpe at the earliest opportunity now.

"The club appreciate areas we are weak in". Did someone up high really say this without blushing to their core?
I'm not arguing the respective merits of certain players, many of whom have been predictably poor but I think the management and composition of the squad has been lamentable.
Kearney, Reardon and Sculthorpe have some of the worst injury records in world RL. Guess what? We sign them.
The regime that placed so much emphasis on youth development have conjured a situation where when the first choice scrum half is injured we have played a significant part of the season with a 19 yr old second rower at scrum half alongside a 36 yr old second rower or Paul Sykes (no description necessary).
My argument is that damning judgements of the likes of Kopzcak and Crossley is completely unreasonable in the context of the utter fiasco that has masqueraded for a coaching and recruitment regime in recent seasons.

No they did not. They were my words, chosen in the interests of diplomacy. I'm not going to splash a transcript of a conversation across internet message boards.

| Outs for me:
Worrincy
Nero (confirmed)
Sheriffe
Hall (linked with Cas)
Halley or Reardon, can't make my mind up but can't understand why Reardon has not been used at full-back when this is clearly his best position.
Menzies (ideally could be kept on for another season but he is quota) sos Beaver..
