I thought Gales long kicking game was excellent and he seemed to push us around the field well IMO

Ainscough is a poorer version of Chris Riley (and that takes some doing) but as you say, his energy goes a long way to masking over some of his obvious negatives.



Luke Gale is still adapting to the new structures. He went pretty well yesterday and shifted us around the green rectangle pretty well. I'd be more than happy to see him given a run with Sammut when he returns from injury.

Yeah no doubt Potter will go with Gale and Sammut as I presume that has been the plan all along. For me it would be a shame to see Jeffries dropped ahead of Gale. On the plus side it will make a change for us to have options at 6 and 7, that is if we can keep them all fit at the same time.

Better than last year. We still have 10 players out so a god win in hindsight. Hope we can keep it up.

With the off-field issues and the injury carnage I have to say the team really stepped up to the plate last night. Sure we shipped a few cheap tries and I am pretty certain Mr P did not tell them at half time to stand back and watch Rangi run but some great tries and they came back well at the end to close the game out.

Work still to do to get into the play-offs but at least this season we are contenders and while not 100% yet there looks to be a much better team spirit than has been evident for several seasons.

Not sure I agree with this, his defence yesterday was poor but the lad is a try machine. In any team he will always score tries.



I've seen some pretty decent defensive performances from Ainscough this year, yesterday was just a bad day, and in all honesty he wasn't the only one to make the defensive mistake!



I think Ainscough offers us more on the pitch than Kear. Kear is a still a little raw for me.

The last sentence I agree with.



I've always felt Ainscough has talent with ball in hand, I just wish his defensive characteristics were polished a little more. That said, with a stronger centre around him, who knows.

Lets not get carried away chaps, cas are a lightweight poor side at the moment. I was gutted that they scored 12pts against us...

Given the disruption I was just glad to take both points. I thought Ainey was OK, he's got so much commitment and gives his all for the cause so I'll not go overboard on his (undoubted) errors, for sure he's not the best defender in the squad but neither are the players around him to be fair.



I think Gale is improving game by game, and in case we forget, he's already missed a large portion of the season with injury, so it bodes well for the future. Kearney took his chances well and also cleared up well in defence, and there was little to complain about with anything we did with ball in hand. We were strong all across the field on attack.



Wish I could say the same about the defence, but you can't replace so many players one week to the next without it having some effect on the structures. Just hope it's patched up before Saints on Friday - Mon/Fri, who came up with that stupid idea?

Good win under the circumstances. Players coming in from the cold, new partnerships, off field worries etc. Defensively we should improve before Friday, but given the quick turn around and little option of rotation due to the mass injury list I can see us being on the end of an ugly scoreline on Friday. Hope I am wrong, but think we might get a bit of a hiding.

There is always hope, and looking at their last few results it would seem the Saints have been adopting some of our defensive patterns?

To be fair to Ainscough i don't think he was helped by Platt, one of the tries Platt did a 360 and had his back to the defence. If Ainscough was outside Lulia, his defence problems would be ironed out as Lulia is one of the best defensive centres around. His pace is a lethal weapon and gives us so many options and he runs his blood to water coming in looking for work.



Gale needs to work on his defence as he was one of the worst last night and got caught completely out of posiion (and to be fair not for the first time this year)



Kearney was class and i thought L'estrange ripped them to pieces from the ruck. Slightly disappointed as i feel 1t 22 - 4 or 34 -16 we should have kicked on and improved our points difference. Tackl bags should be out this week.
