| Quote Albion="Albion"Chase and Dobson would be perfect, but doubt that would ever come off.
Dobson is the most likely and he's exactly the sort of player we need. I don't know why someone above was saying that we need an 'xfactor' from HB? No we don't when we have lomax at 1. We need an organiser and Dobson is exactly the sort of player we need.'"
Don't forget, we have Lance who, whilst not be a perfect 6, does have confidence, pace and a bit of the X factor himself.
Dobbo would be great, but I also think Hanbury would be a good call, even if he's currently playing full back.

| Quote SaintsFan="SaintsFan"Was that really necessary? No.
Sammut is more of a Longy style halfback. I happen to like that style of halfback. Those with originality, risk, flair, creativity, vision and a 'f*** it let's give it a go' type approach. His defence doesn't appear to be a problem to Bradford, who happen to be doing better than us this season, a fact largely down to the uniqueness of Sammut.
But if you want a robot who happens to have a good kicking game or someone who plays in flashes of about 10 minutes each half then so be it. However, I don't mock your view so kindly lay off mocking mine.'"
Sammut is inconsistent and a diabolical defender, he got shown for what he was when saints pin pointed him at odlsum. Comparing him to Longy? jeez!
Dobson a robot? If a robot can help hull kr into one of the better attacking teams in the league then I'll happily have a robot

| Chase is an outstanding player. His motivation probably comes from being such a big fish in such a small pond. I've played for football teams in the past where you are the best player by a country mile and it's hard to do it every week when they constantly look to you to drag them out of whatever mess they are in.
If he moved to Saints he would be fantastic. Same with Dobson. Same to a lesser degree with Sammut, who isn't really what we're looking for as he's a lone ranger and not really as good with the organsational duties and kicking.
Any of those three would be great signings and would vastly improve us.

We need a robot, though. He might not be as exciting to watch as other halves, but he'll allow Hohaia and Lomax to shine more.

Chase would be a mistake to even consider imo, he is too inconsistent and seems to be a big fish in a small pond in a very poor Cas team. Has never really seemed above ordinary when you see him playing for England surrounded by better players and his attitude is very poor.
As Offside Monkey says above, I think a half back like Dobson at 7 would see Lance become a lot more effective at 6 and would help Lomax look even better at full back, would welcome that one with open arms. Whilst not a flair player, Dobson is a solid half back who can organise a line well and has a superb kicking game, all things we have lacked since Longy left imo

| To get Both Chase & Dobson I think it a little more than day dreaming! can't see Mac paying for both and releasing two import slots is a big ask! As everyone has said Chase will return down under and he will not get a work permit, Dobson he always seems happy where he is and his last extended contract was to the end of 2014, so how much to buy him out?

| Dobson/Chase would be a classic Organiser/Maverick combination. Dobson/Sammut would be decent too. But Dobson/Hohaia or Dobson/Swift, Wheeler or a.n.other youngster would solve a lot of our problems.

It's a question of economics though.
Would signing a crowd pleasing half (with the potential resultant on field improvement) add 1,500 to the average crowd?
13 home games, 1500 people, £25 a pop quickly gets you to about half a million quid.
Clearly that's assuming that we are currently at maximum cap so no payroll differential going forward.

| Sammut is under contract until the end of 2014 and an integral part of our team. As we're no longer totally strapped for cash I can't see us letting him go any time soon (I hope).
Chase's biggest problem is his attitude and discipline, but playing in a better side he'd get less frustrated and it might be less of a problem. Dobson is a much more reliable performer with less of the X factor. I doubt either Cas or HKR would want to lose either so it would take a pile of cash to get them. Have you cap space for someone on more than £100k per year?

| Interesting comment about Chase by Stevo on SL Backchat this week about him doing nothing for 77 minutes then pulling off a great move with 3 minutes to go when it was too late that gets the headlines.
He's too inconsistent for me, and not good enough when he's not on form. IMO we need a consistent 7 and although I think Dobson is little more than a standard SL half back like Smith, at this moment in time it's what we need.

Aye, somebody is being massively overpaid if true.
