I can't see them being able to fit Jamie into their salary cap. The Wire, including Gleese must be up to the limit. No doubt they are going to fire Reardon, but is Gleeson really paid so much that the additions of Mathers and Goulding would leave room for Lyon? I'm very much doubting that.



I can't see what Warrington want from the deal, neither Goulding nor Mathers are good enough for them if they really want to improve. Isn't Gleeson out of contract anyway at the end of the season?

The deal as it is being reported is stupid. Goulding is your stereotypical SL youngster, who will play NL1 for a year or two and then drop down or disappear altogether. Mathers is a formerly half decent but always flawed player who has massive question marks over his fitness. Neither are players Warrington should look at, even if they are available for nothing.



If Wigan are paying money as well as releasing two players they are insane. Even with Gleeson and Jamie Lyon they wouldn't win anything this season, so paying money on top of the two players seems ridiculous to me.

He is contracted to 2010 but he said he wanted to leave to go to Aus at the end of this year.

Gleeson's never wanted to play for us. You only need to look at his sorry mush in his initial "unveiling" to know that. He gave us one good year which was the year he signed, and since his form has dipped alarmingly other than the occasional flash of brilliance.



I dont want Mathers or Phelps or Goulding but will trust Tony Smith over my judgement.

Feel sorry for gleese, he made a big mistake and paid for it, his mistake has pretty much goosed his RL career. He has had to sit back and watch his mates win medal after medal, reach final after final, and I am sure would even have liked to have been in the position to pick up a couple of GF loser medals to. Only thing he retained was very good money, and probably will still do so with a nothing move to the goons.

That's a good point - Sometimes I forget he's basically spent the last 5 years trying to resurect his career!!



1 bone headed decision basically condemed him to a career of making of the numbers instead of challenging for medals. I'm sure if he had the chance again he would't have walked in the beeting shop that day!

Gleeson to Wigan in exchange for 2 nobodies??



Evidence if ever there was, that Gleeson is a bad influence in the dressing room, probably due to his "recreational activities". Oh well, one ring leader dropped and the other on the way out. Only took Warrington 5 years to realise the problem!

I remember when we sold him there was uproar. And when he was replaced by a little pig farmer who had bottled it and couldnt handle the pressure of the NRL we were not happy. They he played a few games and gleeson was forgotten.
