My comments were directed towards the supporters of my team who were abusing CW prior to the incident (there were plenty in the SS I can assure you) but now want to feel all 'RL family' because they chanted Chev's name. Perhaps they'll reflect upon some of the mindless and insulting chants directed towards opposition fans and players that we get every game when tragic events like this occur?
Now if wanting to discuss our attitude to our fellow fans and to other teams makes me a sad little individual I'll just have to live with it eh?'"
FWIW I totally agree with you. Some people are too dumb to see the double standards they've displayed. |

Yes - you can have it both ways, that's the point I was making. The fans who you heard giving abuse were doing what sports fans do week in week out. When the incident happened though those same fans chanted Chev's name because they recognised how nasty the injury was. That's because under all the abuse / banter / wind up chants there is a level of respect which has set rugby league apart from other sports over the years.
There was no need for you to mention the abuse that certain fans were hurling at all. You were trying to hijack the thread and turn it into a slanging match and that is below the belt.
You will notice that most of the posts on here are wishing Chev all the best and saying nothing else. There's a reason for that.

You will notice that most of the posts on here are wishing Chev all the best and saying nothing else (the OP wasn't saying 'nothing else', he spoke of his pride in the SS, I spoke of the hypocrisy of many in there, hardly a crime is it) . There's a reason for that (there is, CW is a popular player, I too hope that he makes a speedy and successful recovery).
