This thread is in danger of turning into the second coming of the McD-allah-god thread.



Everyone has their view on what it takes to be a captain and who that should be but the level of opposition to Mags is quite astounding. Even the title of this thread just seems so OTT.



I hope that those who are so openly opposing him have it thrown back at them by both Mags and the club as a whole during the season.



But regardless of how next season goes it would be nice to see fans supporting a player who has been absolutely integral to the success of the last decade if he does get the armband. I hope that happens.

This forum is full of posters that have very strong opinions and agenda's against certain players or even the coach of the club



some posters try to over power other posters with their strong beliefs in the hope that they will beat them into submission and concede the debate.



Most topics on this forum tend to end up with the same few posters trying to out score each other



Most debates often get sidetracked from their original point and get merged into much the same topic as every other one previously



I wonder how many registered users or even possible new posters refrain from coming on here due to all of the above ?



I personally find it all quite amusing reading how these prospective CEO's, Head Coaches and player mentors who with the benefit of hind site would have transformed our club to even greater success' this last decade

Agree McGuire deserves the support if things don't start too well. Regarding the point about him moaning a bit to refs and reacting a bit to other players, I reckon he is pretty placid and close to a Trappist monk when compared to some down the years, Murphy, Hepworth, Gregory, Edwards, Ricky Stuart, Andrew Johns and of late Briers and the current holder of the crown, danny brough.

I think he is next years Captain he has been filling in for awhile so why give him experience at the role and then appoint someone else?I also think Danny comes across very well in interviews

When I first signed up I barely posted because whenever I did it felt like the same small group just slammed you. In the end I just thought 'sod them' but agree many will be discouraged which is a shame.



It's not so much the clash of opinions which is actually what forums are about but the way some move into personal attacks rather than sticking to the subject. But then I'm wandering of subject myself.

TBF there has always been a divide on here, some pro, some negative. I mostly just read nowadays, though the same muckraking and petty point scoring has been going on for years, slowly choking away most posters.

It's exactly the same on the Wigan board... Some of the really negative posters just batter anybody positive into submission... Empty vessels, most noise.

So another thread bites the dust after descending into petty points scoring!
