right place!! right time!! great reflexes and great hands for both trys!! made even more impressive due to the conditions. one of his fine qualities for me is that he's one of those players who can make something from nothing!!

Thats was also a touch lucky, although I would say that clsoe to the line McGuire is one of the best options on the 5th

If it hadn't have got the deflection it would have probably have ended up in the in-goal area, from where we could have forced a repeat set. Yes, the try itself had an element of luck, but even without it it was a good kick.

| Hands up all those who thought that was on the last?
Well you'd all be wrong then, it was on the fourth.
Penalty given away by Ferres trying to 'turtle' Peacock to the usual outcry from Stevo, 'he was just trying to complete the tackle' in his own inimitable fashion.
1st drive from the tap by Jones-Buchanan, 2nd drive by Leuluai from Sinfield's flat ball, 3rd drive from Senior almost to the line, 4th, McGuire deliberately (right David?) rebounding it off Faumuina's leg to pick up and score unopposed.

I don't have a problem with McGuire receiving the ball on the last tackle.
Oh and where abouts was I basing the quality of a player's season on one game? So in response to your statement, I guess that's not me then.
In future be quiet.

I think you need to re-read the conversation.
For starters we were talking about McGuire receiving the ball on the last tackle.
Not his whole chuffing season performance
'"
Why does he?
He is 100% correct
[uYOU[/u based on your opinions on Friday night
[uI[/u based mine on the season so far
ive missed about 4 minutes of action so far this season
(a wee at St Helens and a drink against Salford)

You're correct in what you say. However, by basing my opinion on this one game shows what he can do on the last tackle and I therefore have evidence. You havn't backed up your statement which was something along the lines of 'I wouldn't let McGuire anywhere near the ball on the last' with any evidence.

| Negatives- Kicking game has been poor all season
We don't know what we are doing close to the line (relying on a Burrow, Buderus break or an offload for Webb)
We don't have any moves at all! It is one out rugby or pass it along the line and see what happens! (Saints run at pace with dummy runners, passes inside and neat little chips, even Cas looked better drilled in attack than us on Friday night. Not to mention Harlequins and Salford!)
Positives- Buderus gets better with every game.

| Quote One True Saxon="One True Saxon"I'll give you some advice here. It's best you remove yourself gracefully from this debate as you're doing yourself no favours.
You are basing your whole assessment of Mcguire on one game this season.
I'll help you out. He didnt really do anythin on the last tackle other than get lucky. It was a brain fart, a ridiculous option and he got lucky. You basing your opinion on that is at best, stupid.
Get it?'"
Mate, when mcguire put that kick in I jumped up and shouted at the TV ''WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU DOING'' i felt like a right idiot when we got the penalty and won, but my instinct in the moment was it was the wrong option so you're right about being lucky.
From where hall got tackled we should have shifted it to sinfield in the middle for a go at the drop. Mcguire's play in that situtaion was wrong even though it did come off.

No, I just believe that it is ok if he has the ball on the last tackle.
And I take it you have no evidence.
So to recap, I'm basing my judgement on evidence and you aren't, get it?

Whilst I agree we should have gone for drop goal, entirely. I also have to say that anybody watching on the telly and commenting can really not comment confidently. You had to be there to see what McGuire was attempting.
I have since watched it on the telly and it really does just look like an aimless kick. At the game, although still appearing wrong, you could see exactly what he was doing, who to, and why.
