| Quote RhinoNeil="RhinoNeil"If I was a Wigan fan I'd be worried.
We won that, maybe not on the scoreboard but physiologically. We went to their back yard that is supposedly a fortress and gave them a real good run. Forget the ref and those decisions. WIgan pretty much had a full strength sides whereas we were forced to be without SLs best FB and put SLs best centre to FB. Add in SLs best winger prior to injury, Briscoe, along with a fit Garbutt and we win that home Super 8s game against them by absolute plenty!'"
Despite the loss it feels like we've come away from that game with more. Could be a big moment in our season and a chance to instill a 'they're all against us' mentality.
Wigan didn't look special and couldn't deal with us in top gear. Garbutt was a big loss because we lacked impact off the bench.

Worth a watch re: the ref, Jimmy K and Handley's future.

| Keinhorst and Handley both stood up well again last night.Have to say, Keinhorst in particular i thought his days at Leeds were numbered at the start of the year but the last few weeks he has really shown his worth to the squad and is going to be of great utility value if he can keep this going and even improving as we move forward.I'm made up for him because he hasn't made any noises of discontent about limited game time over the last few years, even when pushed away to Hunslet. He has clearly gone away, worked at his game and come back to the first team and grasped his chance, well done to the lad.

| Quote Juan Cornetto="Juan Cornetto"I disagree. Mac did not get drawn in to Studd's attempt to put words in his mouth. When Mac didn't agree with Studd's assertion Studd pursued it by saying "well you've said it to me before", effectively calling him a liar. Mac had every right to respond by saying "I am not sure I have ever said that to you before"
Considering this was just after his team had lost a big game in the last minute with several controversial decisions effecting the result to suggest Mac's response was eccentric is a odd way to view his fair and reasoned summary.
Your quote from 6 years ago from a different club is not relevant to the context of this interview.'"
Oh come on, I would call him disagreeable, or argumentative, but fair and reasoned?
It wasn't "my quote", it was a quote of McDermott using the phrase he denied ever using, that took about 10 seconds to find on a search.

I'll tell you what mate, I'm not half as worried as I was last week!
Leeds are the better side no question. Cuthbertson was some find and is my MoS so far. Added to that your three quarters are the best in the comp. I actually think that McGuire, annoying so and so that he is, has got plenty left in the tank, and Rob Burrow always scares me.
But, we have beaten you twice so far this season, both away from Headingley. With SOL and Bateman in the team and we were so much better than against Wire last week. Matty Bowen is having a strange season, brilliant one week and awful the next. When he is awful he costs us tries, but when he is good he is a match winner.
A lot depends on injuries - and who knows how much this Super 8 thing will affect the play offs. I think BMc said as much last week.
All in all, I'm quite confident that Wigan have a good chance. Leeds are favourites, and I think it's back to being a three horse race with Saints. Though Huddersfield might have a say.

Fair post. See, Wigan fans can do it if they try

| Aboveusonlypie said 'But, we have beaten you twice so far this season,'. I am neither a Leeds or Wigan supporter and I would say the ref and officials beat Leeds last night not Wigan. A disallowed try which did not impede Tomkins in any way at all, however Tomkins being the larger man managed to throw his hands the highest in the air and got noticed so incorrect decision made and tryof the season disallowed. Knock on by Wigan which three officials failed to notice and hence a try to Wigan. Remove the 6 points from the knock on try from Wigan and add the 6 points for the try for the obstruction which never was and there is a very different score line. Wigan should be grateful to the officials for the points.

I know what you mean, but Silverwood had a strange game. He missed Leeds markers not being square all game. Wigan got the best of the decisions, no question. But you are giving Wigan no credit for a good performance.
I can understand BMc's frustration at the 'try'. It was brilliant play, but you can't blame Tomkins. He was impeded. Watkins blew himself up. That's what the video refs gave. Could it have gone the other way? Yes. If it had been Wigan I'd have been gutted, it seems so unfair because of the brilliance of the try and we all like to see good play rewarded.
Leeds missed Hardaker, but I thought that would allow Watkins free reign. It didn't happen.
With greater composure Wigan would have scored another couple of tries in the second half. It's all ifs and buts. In the end it was a great game, I hope the neutrals enjoyed it as much as I did.
We will probably meet five times this season, so the result probably doesn't matter a whole lot.

Well our opinions differ then. He denied he ever said that to Rod Studd which is quite another thing to your quote and so he has a perfect right to disagree with Studd's allegation. Studd then virtually called him a liar and Mac stood his ground. So you think he should not have stood up for himself do you?
As I said the rest of his comments were fair and reasonable under the circumstances and he did not resort to being too vritical of the decisions that went against him which is what Studd was trying to get him to do.
That you chose to side with Studd is ok but I disagree with your opinion.

I think it is something that is creeping into the game. I watch a lot of the NRL and it happens regularly. Players stay down hoping the decision will be reviewed and very often they are successful.
Wigan are far from being perfect but I would suggest that they are no worse than anyone else, and I'm not sure that you could call the odd isolated incident 'continual'. Watch the game tonight closely and see if I'm right.

Studd tossed him a pretty harmless question which would have allowed him to slate the referee in whichever way he saw fit
instead Mcdermott decided to go all "tony smith" on his a$$ which he didnt need to do and makes for an unecessarily awkward exchange
